Not everything is racist, but a mocking a black person's appearance because of the size of their lips, is.
Since talking to real people is being encouraged on here, I encourage you to speak to a African American man in real life and make the same comment Gruden did. See where that gets you. - Feanor
Yeah this is a fail. Been there with friends back and forth many tines. Have given and received. Laughed a lot because of it.
Commenting on someone’s physical attributes of another sex or race doesn’t necessarily convey racism, misogyny etc. |

I would walk away if I were Fletcher, 4x$6M is not team friendly deal, and frankly too much for an aging player like G, whose game will not age as well as centers like Bergeron. I hope for the Flyers sake they sign him for 3 years and closer to $12M. - jd250
Hmm, I wonder why Giroux's game has not aged well compared to Bergeron??? |

And the grass isn’t greener elsewhere, the world is falling because Frost didn’t make the team on other sites. He didn’t come close to earning it but that doesn’t matter to them. - ClaudeFather
I get that it’s disappointing but realistically, Frost (and others) missed playing time last season. Not now isn’t equal to not ever.

Anyone subscribing to ESPN+ for streaming NHL games as opposed to the strange $60 till Dec 31 NHL Center Ice on Evilcast? Trying to demystify the pricing as season gets closer.. lots of games on NHL Network/TNT + Flyers regular...enough non sports to watch on Prime/Tubi and Acorn/Masterpiece Theater |

I want to see this team play say 20 games of the regular season before I write them off and call for the rebuild. It'll take time for them to Gel. - Hextall271
That is very generous of you. I thought at the end of last season that most folks would give them about two games before going mad. I overestimated. No games played and it is team Negativille in Flyerland.

I'm really not worried about Frost. Him going back to the A was always going to be a possibility if not a probability with what his last year has been like. Get that timing and confidence up, and then say in November, call him up when he's had time to get back firing on all cylinders. I think it's a smart plan TBH. |

Yes, as I mentioned I believe the Flyers will have to win a lot of games early in the season because of their defense. They are having depth issues at center, there is no doubt about it, and we have outlined the reasons why. Where I disagree with some on here is that this in some way invalidates the great off season Fletcher had, as he attempted to fill several gaping holes in this Flyers' lineup. I also don't believe the Flyers are cash strapped. They have a number of 1 year deals that will expire, G will be re-upped at a significantly reduced cost or he may not play here at all, and JVR will most likely be traded in the off season. So if this year does not go well, Fletcher will be set up just as well, if not better, next off season to continue to build out this roster as he was this past off season. We have all seen now what happens when you put all your eggs into the prospect basket, you end up signing players like Thompson and picking up marginal players like Brown to fill holes. - jd250
I haven't seen where very many posters have said it invalidates the moves made in the off season. Most have identified the current hole at center. Can the Flyers trade JVR without taking salary back? What will Fletcher be set up to do? Trade more young assets and further cap strap the team to add another piece to win now? Is that what they should be doing if this season does not go well? More of the same.
What position would you rather the team be in? Having things not go well while being cap strapped and having added multiple older players who are aging with high cap hits. Or a team where it is not going well and has plenty of cap flexibility, propsects and draft picks? |

Haha very generous. Last year was terrible and frustrating, but we've made so many changes, the team will take time to gel. Add that to the fact that our 2C may take until the new year to hit his stride (if at all). |

Come on big E. You know this has been a flat cap. Your a smart poster. Almost 2/3 of the NHL is less then 2 mil in space. Many are dipping into Long Term Injury money. You know this. I get your point but don’t make it sound like things aren’t unique with this current cap issues. - peesinwind
It is a flat cap but a team doesn't manage their team in a certain way just because it is similar to other teams. If you're a good team that is not good enough and is capped out, then you are in trouble as a team. It's fine to be capped out if you're a contender. If you're not, then you have no business being in that position.

If Giroux puts up 60-70 points this year, you see him taking 4M a year?

Unique? No, but it was unnecessary. If Buffalo was unwilling to retain cash on Risto, then walk away. They were already overpaying for him. |

It's more than that. Retaining on Ristolainen just gives them some more flexibility this season. They paid a hefty price for a player that is not cost controlled and is going to have UFA leverage in his next contract negotiation. Unless Risolainen is a player that absolutely excels, which I doubt, it was really a risky deal. Yea they could recoup some of the loss if they decide to move on but really not a trade I'm comfortable with and haven't been. Keeping an open mind to see how he plays but I'm not optimistic.

They had all that and yet here we are x amount of years later. 2 years away
No one has plenty of cap flexibility. None really ever do.
Can never trade "young" assets. Young assets > established better players. Doesnt matter if said young assets are just average players.
