I just read about it.... why did we do this? Just for cap reasons? - Dannymik
Had they not done this, when Mitts came back they would have had to send someone to Rochester and they would have been under the cap floor.

Am I the only one who's not at all surprised the owner had a say in how a trade for their franchise player went down? There's a wide road between micromanaging / meddling and making your POV known on a franchise altering move. |

I honestly don't mind that at all. I'm not sure the Rangers would have offered more than the Sabres got anyway.
I'm guessing this is pre Buchnevich trade, so probably Buchnevich, a 1st, and a couple other things. I like Buch but the idea of running into Eichel in the playoffs is a friggin nightmare |

Short of trading him two off seasons ago there was no way Adams would sniff a win.
Truth be old, he would have gotten taken to the cleaners then considering he had next to zero help in the Hockey Department. - Stripes77
For the situation, and the new GM on the block Adams held his ground. Doubt he got what he wanted, but it's probably close. Like Pach's said B+ |

What posters on hockeybuzz thought versus the reality of what Adams could actually get is exactly the reason this wasn't done at the draft...
LeBrun wrote an article on the Athletic
10 executives, most of which said Adams did the best he could do given an injured Eichel... - Stripes77
Eichel may never play another game. Vegas might have made a terrible mistake. I think the Sabres did pretty good considering. |

I missed the part where it says he was forbidden and completely interfered with by Pegula from discussing things with NY?
Of course he had a preference not to trade him to NY, just like no one would want him traded to any eastern team, but that's not what you said. |

Eichel being hurt has a massive effect on his value, yet no one seems to think it effected Tuch’s value?
Tuch had major shoulder surgery with a 6 month recovery.
Do we know he’s returning to 100% of the player he was? |

I dont think they get Tuch if he were healthy, and they don't get Krebs without him having 0 points in 9 games |

I'm no expert, but Vlad Tarasenko had a 3 shoulder surgeries and he looks like the same player, at least early on. |

"Tuch had the surgery in Las Vegas some time last week. Tuch’s shoulder didn’t hinder him during the playoffs, having played every game during Vegas’ postseason run, but Tuch returned to Las Vegas feeling discomfort and had the procedure done.
“The injury isn’t traced to a specific incident,” McCrimmon said. “It was an issue where his shoulder was giving him trouble through the year. When the season ended, no one anticipated it was going to be real serious or need surgery. Alex went away for a week, thought it would settle down during that period of time.”
Versus a surgery never done on a NHL player before?
You're reaching. |

This return >>>> Zac Jones, Alex Georgiev, Vitali can't get higher than .5 ppg since the MHL Kratvzov, and a protected first. You did try to convince us for a solid hour that this was a good deal for us to accept at this point. Go back to the board before you realize even your best offer for Eichel is still topped by the actual return. - SDSabre

What am I reaching at exactly?
Missing almost an entire season doesn’t hinder ones trade value? Especially when you don’t know how they are/will recover
Here’s my prediction : both will be absolutely fine |

I am going to miss the great group they have there. Now I want to say how excited I am to be a part of the Buffalo Sabres organization. Being from Upstate NY, it’s been a dream of mine to put on the Sabres jersey. Thank you Buffalo and I can’t wait to get started! |

Yeah, not at first
He was invisible last year when he came back and I believe said it took a lot longer than he anticipated to get to 100% |

One had surgery that a lot of NHL players has had, played with that injury all season and still produced well. Where the recovery from that surgery is all but guaranteed it just takes time to heal, versus one having surgery never done on a NHL player before, on the spinal cord where nothing is even close to guaranteed.
