I am going to miss the great group they have there. Now I want to say how excited I am to be a part of the Buffalo Sabres organization. Being from Upstate NY, it’s been a dream of mine to put on the Sabres jersey. Thank you Buffalo and I can’t wait to get started!

No, he had it right the first time, it sucks. The fact that it's among the "best" deals for a star player in the cap era is an indictment on the GMs, not the players.

Because players request trades all the time. The Jets waited 4 years to trade Kane despite the fact he asked for a trade every year after they left Atlanta.

Also, how in the (frank) is he a failure?

On one hand, I'm glad the debacle is over. On the other hand, part of me will always resent the Sabres for this. Being the same age as Eichel, I felt even more invested and attached to the player. Couldn't have been more excited when they drafted him. Expected to watch him blossom into a superstar, lead the team to the promised land, and become a local legend. Obviously, inept ownership, management, and coaching put a wrench in those plans, and years of failure soured the relationship beyond repair.

Hurts to see it end this way - I just don't think I'll ever be able to get as excited about a player again after watching my 2 of my all-time favorites, ROR and Eichel, leave in such a disheartening manner.

I'm too lazy to link the Buffalo Sabres standings the last six seasons, but you get the point. And, the guy making 10 million dollars in a capped sport takes some of the blame.
