Sabres are at 23 players (without Krebs). Murray can be sent down and Wolanen can be waived. Mittelstadt is back, I think, when the Sabres play Detroit. Which forward gets moved? - TheSabresTaco

LTIR is only deployed when it is required for cap compliance. A team can remove a player from LTIR any time they want. Tuch will go to regular IR immediately. - TheSabresTaco

If it wasn't for the Cody Hodgson buyout they would be under the cap floor... |

Well if vegas tanks this year a Eichel may not play until late April, you guys made get a 10 - 15 pick from them. I forgot they have a lot of injuries, so it may not be a late 1st round pick. - Fakepartofme
Just found out the 1st is top 10 protected?
ouch.
That is not good. |

does jack give his parting jab with the sabres today?
or does he man up and take the high road? - homiedclown
I bet he goes high road. Brisson seems to be a real good agent that will have a script for him to not burn (anymore) bridges. Who knows when he's going to have to try to get his client traded out of Vegas..... |

can the sabres take Tuch of LTIR whenever they want? So the money counts against the cap? - burner087
People still don't understand LTIR. First off, a player on LTIR counts against the cap the same as any other player on a teams roster does. Secondly, LTIR is an exemption to spend over the cap to replace an injured IF replacing that player puts a team over the upper limit. If it does not, then LTIR is not available to that team and the player goes on regular IR. |

I think the speculation now has moved to how much more could they have gotten if they had retained celery.

No need to move another forward as Krebs can be sent down. |

sabres were already considered a top 5 prospect pool, and that was with quinn being possibly an assumed bust.
quinn maybe figured something out, now they added krebs?
prospects are a crapshoot, but hard not to like what has come together here. |

Wow. Someone give me a new lineup...with and without Tuch in it.
Effing LOVE Tuch. He's a meat grinder who scores timely goals. Imagine being a D-man with him bearing down on you in the corner while chasing a puck. Love that guy.
This is a good day for the Sabres and Buffalo in general. Also, please boo the sh!t out of crybaby when he returns here. Never seen a more childish whiny b!tch on one of our sports teams before. |

I will say I am surprised they didn't have to take a cap dump back
They would have gotten a better deal if they would have retained salary (which we all know)
Now that this is done here are my questions long term:
Are they planning to actually add talented players to this roster that cost more? Are they going to spend more money and be closer to the ceiling than just barely being over the floor? If they are then I can understand not retaining money, if they're not and they want to go cheaper younger players then wouldn't it make sense to retain and get a better return???
If this comes down to Pegula not wanting to retain money because he wants to save money and not wanting to retain money because they want to spend it on players down the road, it is yet again another bad look for the Pegulas. Only time will tell. |
