When he loses track of who he's supposed to be covering, he just falls back next to the goalie and just stands around clueless. You can almost hear the gears grinding to a halt in his head. It happens all the time and it's kinda hilarious.

Not to mention the delay and casualness of when he does finally make a decision. Like I illustrated in the Edmonton game where he lost multiple puck battles a long the wall and then was slow to get back in position. Hey though, he did make a nice physical push on the passer while he was raising his stick for the goal.

In my opinion it's a mistake not to make changes. The correct results have not been there. A coach just can't rely on the teams current record as the only feed back for decision making. He can't really change the defense pairings until Ellis is ready to play. However there is some opportunity to switch up the forward lines and he should be doing so. The coaching staff did make recent changes in player deployment.

At 5-2-2 you can't possibly argue that "the correct results have not been there." Although, it is you, so I guess you can and will.

Yes, you're right it is me and I can. You have to dig deeper and look at not just the outcome but how the team plays. Some hot shooting and hot goaltending will only sustain a team for so long. If you're consistently outplayed, out shot and out chanced while the other team has the puck more than you do, that is not sustainable long term. When you look at the schedule this team has for the rest of the month. If they don't improve in a number of areas, they could be on the wrong side of the playoffs and dig themselves a hole quickly.

Again, the results have been there. The drivel above is unnecessary and doesn't change that fact.

If the Flyers play well and win tonight I will be impressed! The Caps have been playing good hockey although they are running out of bodies due to injury. No excuses for injuries tonight with the Flyers cause the Caps are without Backstrom, Oshie and Mantha. Although it is painfully obvious that Ellis is a very valuable commodity for the Flyers and they really need to get him back for this tough schedule coming up. Thanks!

The results I'm talking about is the play of the individual lines. Did you read Bill's blog or any of the other comments? Obviously you're having trouble following the conversation. The fact that you call what I posted drivel just tells me that I don't need to take any comment you make seriously. I want the team to contend. The way they're currently playing, they aren't anywhere near a contender. We have to take into account that there are a couple of key players missing from the lineup and see what happens when they return. Regardless my analysis is accurate whether you get it or not.

I wasn't questioning your analysis. I don't disagree with much of what you are saying. However, you're wrong about the end results. They've been winning. I'm not sure you understand what the word actually means. This alone is what I commented about. Nothing else.

They were 5-2-1 at the start of last season, too. Remember that?

The context of the conversation was about the performance of the lines and if changes need to be made. As I explained to you, that is what is meant by results. For example the second line is getting caved in and not generating scoring chances. The 3rd line is generating chances but not finishing. Perhaps if they mixed the lines they could get better overall results and be a better team rather than being outplayed for significant periods of games. It is clear who understands and who doesn't

Irrelevant. Those were good results. Stating the results aren't sustainable at their current level of play is fair.

I didn't backread and must have misunderstood your interpretation of the word "results". At face value, you're incorrect. The results are fine.

If the Flyers were 9-0-0...

Would this board still be the same?
