Good win last night. Jones has played really well.
Side note the ultra talented and well lead Rangers lost both legs of the B2B in Alberta. They got smoked last night 6-0. How can this be? |

Uh oh, Risto played his best game in a Flyers uni to date! Say what you want about analytics, but the Flyers DID NOT have this element in their lineup last year!!! Impressed with the effort tonight and I will rip no one. I have been completely wrong about Jones to date as I cringed when they signed him, but he looks like the Jones from 2015-16 so far!! All good!! - Phillywhiteout
Risto had his best game as a Flyer and that is saying something because I think, unlike others, he has been solid this year. Spot on with your comment, last year Wilson et al had their way with the Flyers, not any more!! Even Wilson was hesitant to go into the corners last night when he saw Risto on the ice. That was the key to game IMO, between having Risto, MacEwen and when Morin comes back, there is not a team in this league that will push the Flyers around! If you want an example, there was a sequence in the first period in the o-zone corner where Risto set the tone! |

I’m excited for him to be healthy as well as Hayes. Would love to see Allison back at some point too - arichardson22
The way the Flyers played tonight + these 3 players coming back, you can see this team going deep this year! |

I think Risto has gotten better game by game which is a good sign…he made some gaffes early on but they are not happening as much as before. I still think he is a solid top 4. It takes time….new team, new system, new partner, last night was another step forward. There will always be his detractors which is fine, as long as he shows up like he did last night against the “heavy” teams he will really help this team as you suggest.
MacEwen has really surprised me. He plays a north south game and does it effectively. His skill level is also a lot better then I would have ever thought. He doesn’t hurt the team when he’s out on the ice. I think the 4th line can be better, but I don’t see him as the issue. Brown skates good as well…

MacEwen was noticeable last night. Tyler Pitlick 2.0? I was disappointed when Pitlick departed. |

Flyers win!
Team negative in shambles - Bob Habib
Can we get a list of who is on what team?
|

They have a 4th line that loses the very high majority of its matchups. They are good for a goal a game against. Overall they hurt the team. Seeler and Yandle seen enough.
both teams didn't play well. Flyers played a tad better.

AV seemed to have Seeler and Yandle on with the 4th line a quite few times last night…or maybe it was it was pretty noticeable when he did. |

I think a lot of people miss this point, so I am glad you pointed it out. Its tough when your partner, i.e. Sanheim, is not playing well, that lends to make a player feel like he has to do more than he can. However last night Sanheim played his best game of the season also! And yes, Brown played a good game last night, would like to see him in there instead of NAK. Brown brings all the energy NAK does without the baggage. When Hayes comes back, that will have trickle down effect that I think will benefit the bottom 6. When Allison comes back, even more! Finally, I would recommend AV swap Cam and TK on the 1st and 2nd lines, I think Cam might finish more set-ups than TK is able to do right now. |

Especially Seeler, for a player that played only 11 minutes last night, boy it seems to be an event every time he was on the ice ... and not in a good way! |

3rd best winning % in the East. They have things to clean up that is true. What else is true is the teams below have more things to clean up, probably similar things to clean up. We nitpick each game, reality each team can be nitpicked. Each team is trying to improve their process. Maybe the Flyers have had more puck luck. What is true right now is they are one of the best teams in the East. What else is true is we are 10 games in and ALL teams, not just the Flyers will have their hot and cold streaks. The Flyers need to play like they did last night, get their guys back and be able to keep losing streaks to a few games. The big test will be when they lose a few, will they still play well and maintain confidence. I like how they came off a lack luster pitt game, played their best game of the season last night.
When everyone is back Thompson needs to go to the press box as does Seeler. Seeler is fine for a few games but he is not an everyday nhl d. |

the 4th line is not good. That is pretty much every game. Last night included.

Do you think thompson will go to the press box? are there any indications of this at all that I am missing? He plays the most minutes of the 4th liners. He is on the pk. It aint happening.

I certainly didn’t get that from the game. Flyers played well defensively and their pk was very solid. Great goaltending. On the road vs a very good wash team. Just because we didn’t win 6 0 doesn’t mean it wasn’t a well played game. Further, that’s the type of game you need to know how to win late season and playoffs. In no way did I get both teams played poorly. |

Brown offers nothing. He is just a player who is there. Do not see one thing he does well. NAK is a much better player than Brown. So with NAK you either live with the dumb stuff or you move him along as I dont think all of a sudden he stops playing the way he plays.
Agree it is tough. Sanheim can contest to that as well.

Sheesh! Enough on the food talk. I had to stop back reading to go make breakfast because all the talk made me insanely hungry.
Was a good game and big 2 points. Risto! If he continues to improve as he adjusts, he will surprise some it seems. Jones with yet another good game. I also like Brown. Having another righty on the PK is good, and he plays with hustle always. Might be nice if they tried him at 4C. I get that they don’t want to shuffle the lines, but maybe a tweak of JVR and Lindblom switching sides would help.

I think the 4th line will get better…when they add guys like Allison and Hayes back in the guys skating on the 4th line will obviously be better. I like what MacEwen brings…I like what I’ve seen from Brown. I thought they got hemmed in 2-3 times last night but had some shifts where they returned the favour last night. |
