Awful. Not playing anywhere near the level of his contract. - PLindbergh31
I knew it was bad but wow. That’s insane. He’s gotta be hurt. One of those can’t play well but cant do any more damage fix it in the offseason dealies |

This is a just a bad and really unacceptable loss at this stage in the season. Montreal had lost 7 straight games, were the worst 3rd period team in the league and 0-3 in OT, yet the Flyers manage to lose the game to them!! The Flyers had a rough first period but then turned it around and controlled the game in the 2nd, 3rd, and OT, yet they still lost! Why? Very simple. It was not because of the goaltending, it was not because of the defense or defensive structure, but instead it was 100% because this TEAM CANNOT FINISH!! Time and time again this team generates incredible looks at a goal and just can't score! Any other decent team that generated the possession time and looks that the Flyers did last night would have scored 6 or7 goals, but not these Flyers. All you have to do is to look at the skills competition at the end, once again the Flyers don't come CLOSE to scoring a goal, while Montreal's forward made some nice plays and scored 1 which was all that is needed. The skill level on this team is just not good enough and don't think for a second adding Ellis, Bee and Allison back into the mix is really going to change things that much because it won't! This is why I still believe it must be blown up! - jd250
I’m also furious and you’re probably right that massive changes are needed. How can you lay an egg in this game? You need the points and a long winning stretch to get back into it. No excuses.
That’s the part I am tired of. Excuses excuses. Just give it everything on a night in night out basis. They always seem to mail it in

No, the Flyers did not mail it in last night .. the controlled most of the game and the OT, its like I said, they just can't finish plays! |

Ill never understand why a team that struggles this much on shootouts doesn't treat these like in game breakaways. Skate in as fast as you can like you are being chased, don't think, just react.
Stop all this side to side slow roll nonsense giving the goalie the ability to cut off the angles. Come in hard and fast every time like it was in the game. |

Where we watching the same game? Montreal right? Empty building?
I wont use hyperbole like "they mailed it in", but they looked like the 6 win team far more often than Montreal did. At least Montreal would've had an excuse with that lineup.

They let a bunch of smurfs run roughshod in front of Hart. Totally disorganized in their coverages.

Yeah, most of the Flyers would benefit from this approach. Except, don’t run over the goalie.

I'm new to posting but long time reader here and this is my favorite post after one from 6-7 years ago about Ake-gretzky after many posters thought that Jason Akeson was our savior. He had 2-3 good games. - Don Nachbaur
Its weird that the coaching staff knows more than some fans.

Yeah. I don’t agree. Without hart that’s a blowout loss.
Also, ottawa has been playing well. Dropped 8 on Florida and beat Tampa. I’m prepared for them to get crushed tomrorow. |

That is absurd. 5-1 margin against the most depleted team in the NHL. You know what, they were probably like we’ve won 3 in a row, it’s ok to go back to going through the motions. |

My point is, it’s two points that they needed vs a shell of a team with a young goalie in net who have lost 7 in a row. You show up and get pummelled in the first, can’t finish all game and then on a pp in ot, you stand around in the neutral zone on entries and stand stationary on the pp.
The tsn analysts were asking. What are they doing? Stationary in neutral zone and I’m o zone ? They were shocked. |

Oh our notorious slow starts. You'd really thing us behind in the standing so far. Playing a team like montreal, we would come out on fire and not even give them a chance.

Yep. It’s this type of thing that means they have no chance of recovery for a playoff spot. They’re wildly inconsistent |

very true, but after that as the game went on, the Flyers dominated possession and play, even through OT. They got stronger as the game went on. |

I don't think so ... that is why real NHL scouts and executives are not over the top on metrics like some on this forum
You can't have it both ways. We can't say the Montreal goalie had a great game, which he did, but then state he had no work or high danger chances against. Something is off there. I know what I saw. I saw a Flyers team that made an everyday goalie look like Carey Price, and that to me points to a serious lack of skill. |
