I think he is going to be a good player, but there is a reason so many teams passed on him at the draft. Some in here had him pegged as the next Theo Fleury because the entire Montreal team caught lighting in a bottle last playoff year.
The last thing the Flyers needed was another undersized forward who disappears for long stretches at a time. - MBFlyerfan

The guy with 1 goal and was sent to the AHL this year?? - ClaudeFather
Yes, absolutely. The same team that fired both the GM and assistant GM ? The same decision makers who had Caufield on the sidelines until the 2nd series? And he only got on the ice because Marc Staal got injured. Caufield had 12 pts, in essentially 2 series, because Tampa, being the champs, have the best team defense in the league - as expected shut the entire Mtl team down.
This year it's a team that lost Carey Price, who carried them through the first 3 series, and Shea Weber, a #1 defenseman plus Phillip Daneault who was the their defensive backbone down the middle, plus lost Kotkaniemi and Corey Perry.
Evidence this team is too thin ? Suzuki is also not putting up numbers either, and that kid has talent.
Once again, I go back to what a team is. In hockey, it's 22 guys. A few players can't do it all - play D and goaltend too. This is simply a situation where too many good players left at once.

So every player on the team gets an excuse for poor play, got it. |

They'll compare like apples and oranges, as they have from Day 1. |

Hoping g gets two point tonight. Be nice if he can move to second all time in flyers scoring and complete this against the habs.
It’ll be easy for him to do the French interviews. |

That Cole Caulfield. - MBFlyerfan
The guy I drafted in fantasy, the show in for ROY? That guy? |

4 in a row?
Nah.....
Tonight they will revert to the garbage we saw in the previous games. Undisciplined, disorganized, un-spirited hockey team that can't complete two passes in a row, nevermind score a goal.
Flyers gonna tank this one. |

Doesn't sound like you've played or coached. Do you have anything besides negativity? I've had rosters with D2/D3 kids giving 110% effort, that came close but couldn't overcome Division 1 talent. Does that mean they played poorly? It's not all black & white. When we got 1 or 2 D1 kids added to our roster, they started to win by the slimmest margin. There's a talent break even point. It's why GMs make trades, they're looking for "1 or 2 pieces" to put them over the top.
There's been hundreds of top 10 players drafted from college to NFL who don't make it at the pro level. They end up stagnating on teams like the NY Jets or the former Cleveland Browns, or the current Jags while teams who draft in higher rounds succeed. It takes scouting, coaching, having a decent team to build around and lots of work. Dumpster teams are lacking in one or more of those areas and lack of success is not the fault of a few players.

Dude, you just tried to pretend that teams were game planning for Cole Caufield. Listen he, and the entire team, I’ll emphasize again, entire TEAM, as you like to point out had a great playoff run. Next season comes around and the kid couldn’t even hack it. I’m not doubting the kid could be a good player but the people drooling over him really need to stop. |
