I'm feeling a bit uneasy about this game tonight. 3 wins in a row hasn't exactly erased the realization that this team just may be a dumpster fire for real. |

don't worry we can compete with the bad teams |

They'll compare like apples and oranges, as they have from Day 1. - bmeltzer
Well being the Flyers drafted York with Caulfield on the board, and being first round picks are best player available not draft area of need I'll go ahead and disagree.
Edit: So the Rangers drafting Sanguinetti one spot ahead of Giroux in 2006 is apples and oranges by your definition right? |

I fully expect to win tonight and Saturday but if they don’t show up against Washington and Pittsburgh, we’ll be right back to where we were in November. - SuperSchennBros I wouldn't bank on a win Saturday at all. Ottawa is a sneaky good team that is healthy again. They just whooped up on Florida 8-2 the other night and they beat the Avs last week.

I think they beat Tampa last Saturday too. So you might be right. The point is, the Flyers have a lot more to prove if we are to believe they’ve turned a corner. |

I think he’s assuming that York becomes a serviceable NHL Dman. If York becomes a 3-4 guy that plays power play and Caufield is a mid 20s goal scorer, who’s really better? |

It does have that feeling. I hope they don’t drop a stinker tonight, but it feels like the Flyers-kind of thing to do. |

Really need to go 3 for 4 in the games leading up to Christmas which for this team will be quite the task. |

I am still planning on screaming from home. Fans just not in the building…but still watching. Need the 2 points.
Let’s go Flyers!

No. Because Giroux became an impact NHLer and Sanguinetti barely played in the NHL. But if Sanguinetti had a meaningful NHL career, it becomes apples to oranges because one was a forward, the other a defenseman.
BTW, if Giroux had been off the board, the next on the Flyers list was Patrik Berglund, not Sanguinetti. |

How are you going to compare a Dman to a Forward when success criteria are different? |

Simple. Regardless of position in most cases you know who the better player is |

Ok, whose to say Caulfield isn’t a perennial 25-30 goal scorer and York is a 6th defenseman? |

And who is to say that York doesn't become a 20-min a night, 45-50 point D man over time? Both players are still very early in their respective careers. Both are having growing pains. York plays the position that generally takes a little longer to develop. It's still apples-to-oranges at present. |

If Bobby Brink becomes an NHL player with some scoring touch then that adds to the mix. |
