Carol Schram: Boudreau gets opportunity for mini training camp with Canucks postponements The Vancouver Canucks won't play a game again until at least Dec. 27. But the healthy players hit the ice on Monday for a practice with Bruce Boudreau, who will get a chance to conduct a mini training camp before this weekend's holiday break.

What do you think of the chances that the league makes mid-season realignment and re-introduces the Canadian division?

I sure hope not. But I imagine at this point, all options are on the table depending on what they think they'll need to do to finish the season.

I don't think anyone wants to see that set-up again.

Not sure how the league can fairly introduce a Canadian division. Some teams have played more away games against eastern opponents, some teams ( Oilers) have had a very easy schedule to start the year. How could they possibly change the alinement and keep everyone happy?

As much as it would be nice to beat up on then Canucks again for the rest of the year, would it really do anyone any good?

I don't see a Canadian division alignment, but maybe the NHL makes it so that all teams play in their own divisions for the rest of the season if lockdowns become a thing. It'd be easier for teams to stay in their own division north/south rather than go east-west.

"I like Derek a lot. He's a good hockey guy. He he can evaluate talent and I relied on him heavily in Pittsburgh."

its hard to overlook the fact that all that success in Pittsburgh was fed by getting all those first round picks with 2 generational talents chosen in back to back years....

Sources say there has been conversation today about a possible league-wide shutdown effective tomorrow. The situation remains very fluid. No decision yet.

It's hard to overlook the 4 1st overall picks Edmonton has had and yet no team success in the decade since.

You mean high picks aren't a guarantee for a SC?

But for real though.

[sarcasm] My airtight plan involves us trading Petey, Hughes, OEL, Myers, Hamonic, Miller, Bo, Boeser, Garland, Hoglander, Podkolzin, Richardenson and Motte for 1st round picks next year... forfeit the '22 season and not play while JR works the phones, hire ninjas to assassinate Bettman, Daly and Parros, and to stuff the lotto balls and then get Bedard.

Plan B includes using ninjas to kidnap whatever or whoever is most dear to the owner and GMs of the team that somehow manages to beat us in the lotto for ransom to trade the pick to our team for future considerations in '31 [/sarcasm]

Hearing NHL/NHLPA will agree to pause season Wednesday through Christmas Day. Players will return to team facilities on 26th — one day earlier than usual — so that testing can be resumed.
