This is what happens when you lose your best foward and defenseman. Losing Zegras and Fowler at the same time hurts alot. But the Ducks have also been sliding offensivly even before losing those 2 players. The skaing was looking a little bit slower before the Christmas break and getting 2 weeks off doesn't seem to have improved it. This team biggest assets are Skating and depth. And both are being chipped away by Covid and injuries. The defense and goaltending have been spotty lately and there really hasn't been the same amount of offensive chemistry in the top 9 fowards.
Luckily this team will get healthy again. The Ducks are just going to have to weather this situation. There aren't any prospects that are NHL ready. And teams aren't trading players yet.
Honestly. The Ducks need more Skill in the Top six. We have a bunch of 2 way fowards. But losing Zegras And Fowler has showed how much the Ducks need another play maker. Comtois, Jones, Henrique aren't going to change much as playmaking goes. And even in the Gulls there aren't any guys you would call a playmaker.
Lastly, something needs to be done. Alot of Ducks fans know this. But apparently it needs to be said again. The Ducks front office needs to either make a trade or draft more Skill. This problem hasn't gone away. Zegras has helped. But it's not enough. Do something Ducks GM. Whoever that is.
