I'd argue Hughes already has the help with Bratt. We need to get Nico some guys to play with now.

I don't understand why they aren't playing our young potential snipers in top 6 roles. Holtz was drafted to play wing for either Jack or Nico. Not on the freaking 4th line with a goon and a kid that can't crack the NHL. I love Vesey here but he's a 4th liner so there was room to play Holtz up top. At this point the playoffs are a stupid goal to reach for. Put our young guys in the top 6 to play big NHL minutes instead of AHL time for 4th line in NJ. The way we develop young guys here is so freaking DUMB. With Dougie out, you got Ty Smith on the bottom pairing?! like wtf

Tatar did well on the top line but if we're going to be short on players because of covid protocols we can't have Nico playing with Bastian and Vesey. Let Nico play with Tatar and put some other schmuck with them so we can have a more balanced attack.

Holtz with a 3 point game in his return to Utica since leaving for the WJC a month ago. 13 points in 12 games for him now.

This would’ve been the ideal opportunity for Holtz instead of burying him on the 4th line. Tatar-Hughes-Holtz would’ve been something to keep an eye on. White deserves to be the 7th Dman on this squad anyway so far this season. I’d really like to see Walsh get a look at some point too.

Agreed, would've loved to have seen that line. Or atleast have him with Nico so Nico isn't playing with multiple 4th liners. We know he's already good enough to play at a top level in the AHL, and I just want to see him play with actual talent at the NHL level. I know it was just preseason but him and Jack looked good together when they were paired up.

Walsh absolutely deserves a shot for sure. He should've been given Smiths spot/role a month or two ago. They tried to call him up last month but a covid close contact stopped it from happening or something
