If Wayne Gretzky can be traded, anyone can be traded. |

The NHL stopped teams from completing trades when they thought it would doom the franchise? Which trades were those?
Also is this really that insane? He's a great player. But if someone grossly overpays for him then that helps their franchise. SMH.

So the NHL should decide where players get traded?

Like when the Jets moved to Arizona and traded Teemu Sellanne. It was just a bad look. |

If they didn't stop the Sabres of being robbed for ROR .. why would they stop this...
Who says the Yotes are bad... they beat the Leafs... |

Yes trade him and in return bring in a few players of value to help kick start this Club.

AZ is doomed with or without Chychrun. Just how Armstrong designed it. |

Again, I'm genuinely curious which trades have been stopped by the NHL? Anyone have examples? |

In all pro sports, I only remember a league killing one trade. That was David Stern killing the Chris Paul to the Lakers deal. That's it.

Lindros, but that was only because he was traded to two different teams. An arbitrator had no choice but to step in. |

Ok. But Ek is saying that if the NHL thinks a trade will doom a franchise they intervene to stop it. Examples? |

Why would the NHL stop a team from trading a player? That’s absurd |

Yeah I can't remember the league ever stepping in to block a trade on those grounds. I don't know what Ek is talking about there.
I think the team is just looking to shed as much salary as possible because the owner(s) need the money. They've been called out on withholding money from vendors and the city of Glendale already. They got the boot from their current arena, have no solid option as of yet for an arena for next season. I wouldn't be surprised at all iff they announced a sudden sale and move to another city before this season is over. |

That will not help the CRYERS They could be even worse than the Coyotes |

Chychrun wants out - Newgod77
I haven’t heard that. But it’s the one thing that makes sense. Last year it seemed obvious that they were committed to build around Chychrun and Keller. Reasonable cap hit through 24-25 and 23 years old. What changed?
There’s no rationale or precedent for the NHL to get involved with the trade.

I think Pocklington tried to trade the entire Oilers team for $50million in 1980. Not sure if the league stepped in. |
