Kyrou, Neighbors 2022 1st and 2022 2nd for Tkachuk - K-man25
The Blues are currently 9th overall so the 2022 1st is not overwhelming.... that's not enough we would get much more if he was in fact shopped. |
|
|
|
I wish they would just lock JG and MT up long term so we can stop talking about trading them for at least a year. |

Kyrou’s no slouch, he’s up there in scoring. Neighbors looks like a good prospect with potential. This isn’t Feaster drafting for us, 21st oa could bring back a decent prospect. We got Raz, Kyl, and Fox in the 2nd and 3rd found.
But I agree with Wop, let’s lock them both up, give Chuckie the C so we can end the madness. |

100%.
Would love to be a fly on the wall for agent GM conversations.
Tonight will be a real test. Hopefully the right Flames team shows up. Any concerns with Vlad the Impaler starting? |

I think he’s been the perfect backup, 2 shutouts in limited games. Nothing to worry about. |

I think it's a smart move to give Vladar this game. Put Markstrom in to guarantee a victory in a B2B. Tonight, throw in the backup and force the team to make the difference. If he wins it on a standout performance, he gets confidence. If he loses, it was a schedule loss anyway and the team uses it as motivation for the next game. The other thing is that we have 3 B2B sets coming up in the next 3 weeks. Vladar has to be ready for at least 2 of those, if not 3.

Vladar will be fine. perfect back up goalie. No reason to play markstrom back to back plus they want him semi rested to play Vancouver. |

If Brady was willing to sign long term with Ottawa why in the world wouldn't Matthew be willing to seriously consider signing with Calgary - assuming the money is there and he's ok with being in the west? Unless the media knows some concrete fact that they're not sharing (which I seriously doubt) I call BS on this.
Not only that but the chemistry that's developed between MT, JG and Lindholm could be a deciding factor for both of them staying in Calgary. (It wouldn't surprise me one bit if we find out sometime in the future that The Jolly Rancher has skillfully encouraged that bonding for exactly that purpose.) |

That is my hope as well. Just give them both 8 by 9.0 mill per & Tkachuk has really matured, give him the C if he takes a long term deal. That will be a top line we have set for the next two seasons after this. |

Was wondering, if Flames are in the playoff mix, instead of giving up tons for a rental, what is the temperature for maybe giving up Valamaki, Dube & our 1st to Columbus for Liane. That poor bastard has no one to play with in Columbus. He might fit pretty sweet in our top 6 & #1 PP. Kid has a shot, just need to find a way to get him in position to unleash that sucker. Would mean Treliving has a lot of tap dancing next summer to keep the team intact with the new contracts, but damn, what a nice addition that would make to our top 6.

I read he’s a rfa that needs a 7mil offer, the way he’s playing he’s not worth that. Getting him out of Columbus could change that. If that’s the case Monahan is as good as gone for cap purposes. Still going to need some jockeying to make it all work but like the idea of not going in on rentals. This team needs to quit throwing away 2nd and 3rd rounders. |

Exactly the team is trending upwards with markstrom and vladar playing excellent our defence is young and looking fairly good. some good young prospects. On the farm. And the heat playing good under a sutter system. So both the heat and flames are trending up so why wouldn’t you want to stay and try to win a cup |

Lianne may gel here & if we cant afford him, would be a very tradeable asset. Versus the rental market, I would rather go for it & hope Lianne gets a fire lit up in him with better players & a playoff bound team. We dont need Gio, we dont need Chariot & the 1st round pick cost it will take to get them. We can deal with next years roster & the painful decisions that will happen in the summer. Lianne is the type of player you go for it with imo. |

The return for Tkachuk better be higher than 2 firsts and some other chump, but a lot of the firsts that have been used in blockbusters lately have turned into top 5 picks. |

There's almost no chance Tkachuk is signing that. He has a guaranteed 9 million contract for next year and then UFA. The Flames would have to be offering Marner money to make him consider giving that up. Don't forget, it was only a few months ago when he was calling out his brother for not being Tkachuk enough in his negotiations.
What are the rules on extending RFAs? Could they extend him as soon as he accepts the qualifying offer? Maybe if he wants to stay in Calgary, turning that one year at 9 million into nine years at 9 million could make sense. |

Blues wouldn't trade Kyrou for Tkachuk straight up. 3 years of a low cap hit guy with 41 points in 38 games, for 1 year of a high cap hit guy with 44 points in 38 games? |

You'll have to excuse some flames fans. They think an RFA with 1 year of control left on an overpaid contract is worth more than MacKinnon on the market. |

Lots of reasons. Gives them the best chance to win, is rounding back in to form, didn't do much the previous two games, another break coming up, Sutter will ride his number one as much as he can.
I think the plan was probably going to be start Vladar in Dallas, but who knows now. |

So what is your special source that you know Tkachuk would rather have a 1 year term over an 8 year term of security??? Something to be said for security of long term deals versus short term & the player running the risk of serious injuries. You dont know how he feels & these guys also want to win, so a fine balance of that is probably in that 9.0 mill range. Not sure where you are establishing value as well. Marner hasnt come close to living up to that number he is getting, dont believe me, just go ask some Leaf fans.
As for the rules, the Flames have to offer him that 1 year qualifying offer to retain his rights, but Tkachuk doesnt & most likely wont sign it right away because he probably will be looking for a long term deal & they have all summer to negotiate that. |
