It's the year of '17''s...lol
17 years on the Flames rebuild and 17 mil in cap circumvention by cup champs Tampa.
Coincidence? I think not...

As of right now trading Miller sends the wrong message to the club. Trade him next season in his last contract year if the team is out by TDL. |

Ya I sent it over - NewYorkNuck
It's sounding somewhat similar. Nucker told me I couldn't compare it that way.
Trade Garland, Pearson and Hamonic. 11M in cap space is a lot.
Buyout OEL in 2023, another 8M after 3.5 is gained from Virtanen, Holtby, Halak bonus.
Overall, Florida’s unearthed four top-six forwards and two top-four defencemen in the last two offseasons for inexpensive prices no state tax baby
Plus be real, it's attempted by every team every year and works very rarely. |

There are a glut of mid/bottom 6 guys that can go: Pearson, Richardinson, Chiasson, potentially Motte.
Top 6 will require a shakeup as well: JTM, Garland, Boeser depending on what the return is/are for any/multiple of them.
D: Poolman, Hamonic, Myers potentially..
The no sales tax helps, but not a ton when you're bringing in guys on 2 mil contracts. FLA got lucky and they also did their work. Savvy pick ups. |

The entire bottom 6 except for the kids can go if someone offers a decent return. That's what needs to be done, they have been okay lately but nothing there that is can't do without.
I'd feel bad If Canucks got rid of Poolman right away. He has been pretty decent value. Not to mention if you trade Schenn, then pretty much anyone who plays with Hughes isn't around the next season |

Poolman is meh, but doubt anyone will take on the length of that contract. Schenn has good value, but he fits with the team so maybe hold him til next TDL? As for Hughes' partner, that can be solved with a JTM trade There are some fringe sights I've read that suggested the Islanders would be in on JTM and potentially have Dobson as the piece coming back – you'd have to really consider that trade IMO
The problem with the bottom 6 guys is if you ship them off, you have to replace them. So, not really saving any money, and I'm sure the return for a depth 4th liner would be next to nothing. It would completely depend on what Bouds thinks of them I think. If he doesn't like them, trade them/let them walk. If he sees value in them/thinks they can grow, keep them. They've been decent lately, which is a far cry from JB's/TG's 4th line |

Garland to NYR for Lafrenière.
They need RWers, have a log jam at LW. Canucks get a younger taller high potential player and shed a little cap |

Who knows how this whole thing will shake out, I'm just glad we're out from under JB where we dreaded any sort of deadline
Read an article on Sportsnet that in previous years Rutherford/Allvin did most of his/their big moves before the TDL. So maybe we won't have to wait 2 months. |

Thanks Carol
Forsberg is a beauty and this is where I would move Boeser and take a serious run at him or Hertl. Players that bring it every game. Don't waste 7.5 mil on BB and use it for a legit top forward. - VANTEL
Or we could have traded him for a dman when he had value |

𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟏:
NYR get:
Miller (50% retained+[25% with a 3rd team for a 4th round pick])
VAN gets:
Alexis Lafrenière
𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟐:
LA gets:
Miller (40% retained)
2022 5th round pick
VAN gets:
Rasmus Kupari
Brock Faber
2023 2nd round pick
From "Canucks conversation podcast"
Laffy obviously has the upside. What he isn't is a centre or right shot and he doesn't help the defence.
Change that 2023 pick to a 2022 and I'm taking that deal easily. |

I thought it was a pretty good read.
I got the impression he is a bit disappointed with the struggling training camp holdout. |
