Carol Schram: At All-Star Break, Canucks performing like a playoff team under Boudreau The Vancouver Canucks still have a steep hill to climb if they hope to snag a playoff spot this season. But their stats in the Bruce Boudreau era show that they are deserving, especially with their league-best goal suppression.

If the make up of this team is not good enough why are you getting rid of your best players ?

This team is so soft and we want to get rid of our two most involved forwards. Well if Miller is moved at least we still have Motte to add some muscle. Oh wait we are moving him too.

For me it's like this. If the canucks are out of the playoff picture by TDL, you entertain offers for Miller. Only make a trade if you get a home run though. If the offers are not what this team needs...try again at the draft.

If the team is in the playoff picture at the TDL... keep him. If the team collapses and misses the playoffs or pulls a Leaf's and doesn't compete in the first round, pick up the phone at the draft and try and get best deal possible.

If Miller helps carry this team through a couple of rounds... then you have a tough decision to make before his contract is up.

I agree it was nice to see the Mighty Flames comeback win over the Stars. Tanev leading the way proving that even though he no longer plays for the Canucks, he’s still a good teammate.

Forsberg is a beauty and this is where I would move Boeser and take a serious run at him or Hertl. Players that bring it every game. Don't waste 7.5 mil on BB and use it for a legit top forward.

Thanks Carol! Interesting look at some stats, id want to look at how many high danger shots they allow because a hot goalie can make a team look amazing. But they are much improved, that’s good news.

It will all depend whether you wash your hands after eating smoked salmon, before you make your bed.
Try to stay on task here.

Thanks again Carol.

You have to be careful following this stat. It doesn't factor in who's shooting nor what kind of shot they get off.

Thanks Carol.

I was not surprised to see a couple forwards struggle this season, after the team tried to play better defensively.
Now that Bruce wants full effort at both ends of the ice, I can see these players won't be a fit unless they learn in a hurry, how to play the right way.
One of those forwards, Pouty, I can see playing a better 2 way game, but he just isn't strong enough to be very effective.
The other Brock, just doesn't have the speed or intelligence to be much of a 2 way player and should be the 1st player moved out.

When Bruce took over Canucks played quite a few mid table teams.

Since the Florida game Jan 11th the team has gone 4-5-3

They played (we will go season points percentage)

Panthers x2 3rd in the league
Lightning 5th
Hurricanes 2nd
Capitals 11th
Blues 10th
Predators x2 9th
Oilers 16th
Jets 20th
Flames 14th
Blackhawks 25th.

The next 12 games only the Rangers and Leafs are in the top 12 in the standings.

The schedule gets a bit easier again.

I just saw that Arizona beat Colorado in a SO last night.

Clicking on the link you posted for Natural stat trick, it becomes immediately apparent that Pearson is still king of the secondary assists

By the time you play the Flames again they’ll be a top 10 team.

Koekkoek put on waivers, 10th overall pick, Canucks love those top 10 picks.
