Kevin...thanks man for another cool blog. Is there any other way anyone can help the NHL robot players to stop idiotically using the word "Obviously" every other sentence? I love reading articles and player quotes but this is embarrassing and annoying

Yes, there is. But it's not obvious.

Babcock coaching at University of Sask with his son.
Oilers had semi inquired before rolling with Woodcroft (who deserves this shot) and he said he was finishing out the season there regardless

Stone is out for the season. So Eichel can come back whenever he wants. Not that complicated. As for next year, Smith isn't coming back anyway. That isn't just due to Eichel but also extending several other guys (ie Whitecloud). Nice analysis.

No one ever mentions it but I could see Buffalo being the team as the third trade partner. They could eat almost 20 million in cap space currently. They could even move Johnny Boychuk to long-term injured reserve 2 make that happen. If Kevin Adams goal is to build through the draft why not take free pics? They have the most space to play with

I am sure the Knights will pull a "Lightning" and make some player "injured" and magically reappear come playoff time (See Kucherov).
The NHL is a Joke. Can't bring in huge revenue and spend on salaries (see NTR, TML, Philly), but we will allow low tax states like Texas and FLA the competitive advantage

Exactly !!

I doubt Bettman will ever close that loophole, as it works too well for his bosses !!

I wish there was a way to have an adjustable cap for each team in order to level the playing field because as it stands it's pretty ridiculous.

The tax advantage is so exaggerated. Players get taxed on where they perform. So a Tampa player has 50% of games in Florida, but then faces higher tax rates whenever they play in NY, CAL, Canada, etc...And a those players in higher tax states get a tax break every time they take a road trip to Florida, Texas, etc...So it's an advantage. But not that significant. Also most guys can do some tax planning to save piles of money. Get paid into a Corp, set up an RCA or IPP, donate to a Foundation that just so happens to employ some relatives.
