Or former 1st rd picks or whoever that are close to nhl ready instead of waiting years for a pick to hopefully pan out. - hello it's me 2050 if possible, I would agree, depending on how they see the draft and what the available former picks look like. So if there is talent, speed with great edge work in the draft and I think I can get it that is what I am going for. That said it depends the trade partner, better teams lead to later 1st round picks.

Hamilton.
Also, pretty sure Komarov has been waived at least once the past year or so. So not quite 2 way loyalty there.
They have 2 fast, creative centers in Barzal and Nelson. But their defense is not built for the modern game. - PT21
Leo was bad last year but they still used him as a fill for Lee and others. Some NYI fans on boards claim that Lou and Leo are close and Leo went to the KHL to help Lou with his cap problem.(Leo speaks Russian among other languages). Pretty far fetched but who knows.

Sitting at drafting 5th overall right now. Montreal only has 6 fewer wins. If they sell they can definitely get into the top three.
Tear. It. Down. - hereticpride
Nah nah. They just need a slight tweak. A mini re-tool. |

Bad? I watched most Isles games for 2 postseasons, and I barely recall anything he did except the occasional feistiness. Yet they kept him there and sitting Wahlstrom...
Did you mean Lamoriello speaks Russian? If so, I am even more impressed.
EDIT: nvm. Misread. Yes, many Finns speak/can understand Russian.
Dbl EDIT: Further, he was born in Estonia, and would have been there before the wall fell, which means he was essentially born under Russian rule. Not surprising he speaks Russian. Indeed, based on his name, he might be ethnic Russian. |

Sanheim can't beat up Nathan Gerbe but he can flat out play hockey.
But Provy...... yikes. - Tomahawk
Yeah my goodness that Provy turnover... like what the actual frank? |

Oh Oh .. I can see it now. The Aves pick him up off waivers, play him with NAK and he scores 4 goals in the coming weeks. Then at the deadline the Aves get G for NAK and Bunnaman ... ha ha ha - jd250
Rationalize how Aube-Kubel was waived while bums like Thompson, Brown, and the rest of the stiff dujours were kept. Is Brown, Thompson, Bunnaman, Macewan going to crack the Avalanche lineup and play every game? |

I misunderstood you because I thought you were talking about a replacement for Lou thus the Weight reference. Leo K speaks fluent Russian. His parents were Russian speakers. Leo is fluent in Swedish and Finnish as well. |

Yes, my fault. Jumped topics.
Yes, I knew Komarov was Finnish but did not know he was born in Estonia. Looked that up. Turns out he is indeed of Russian ancestry. He certainly looks very Russian.
There is a nice interview of the PM of Estonia today about Russia in the Financial Times. It has made amazing progress since it attained freedom from Russia btw:

Aube-Kubel a million bucks, Brown, Thompson, Macewan 800k range.
Cap hit has zero to do with it.

I was studying in Moscow and made a weekend trip to Tallinn. I had to use French or German to be acknowledged. No one would speak to me in Russian. |

Like I mentioned before how do Minnesota's rank in their division?
Minnesota is 2nd in their division with
Hartman
Eriksson Ek
F.Gaudreau
How does that compare to:
RoR
R.Thomas
Barbashev
Granlund
RyJo
Sisson
Hintz
Seguin
Glendening
Scheifele
Dubois
Stastny
Toews
TyJo
Dach/Strome - xShoot4WarAmpsx
The Wild are 2nd in their division in spite of their centers. Hartman isn’t a true center but is the beneficiary of 2 playmaking wingers. Erickson-Ek is center on a shutdown line that didn’t allow a goal 5x5 until game 45. Erickson-Ek was 4th in Selke voting but will be higher this year. Erickson-Ek has lots of skills but playmaking isn’t one of them. Gaudreau should be playing no higher than 4C.

I wonder if that is a spinoff from his fluency in German. He was a KGB/Stasi agent in East Germany. There was a famous video of his first addressal in the Reichstag where he vows everybody by speaking in German. One can see an youngish Angela Merkel, unimpressed, whispering to a colleague. Given that she was from East Germany, she knows how much that is worth I assume. I could not find the video in a quick search.

I don’t like Putin as a human being, but I find him utterly fascinating.
In fact, if I could read a 100% tell all autobiography written by anyone alive today, a pipe dream where one would have to be completely honest and spill their guts on anything and everything, I think Putin would be hard to beat.
I mean, not just as a leader, but all those years in the KGB during the Cold War, too. That man knows where a lot of bodies are buried, and how a ton of spec ops changed the world in which we live.
I mean, tell me that wouldn’t be an incredible story. |

From what you have posted in the recent past, your Masters was in the 1980s. You travelled to Moscow to study before the wall fell? And you speak Russian? I tried to learn it and failed. Way too hard.Much respect.
And not surprising at all about Russian being ignored in Estonia.

He is a highly capable man, as far as politicians go, who was brought up in the glories of the USSR. Never reconciled to its fall. Still dreams of its past (false) glory.
Russia today has the highest mortality difference between male and female life expectancy in the world. The average Russian lives a hard life. The elite lead gilded ones. He is in with the elite. Russia produces nothing except weapons and its energy supplies and lots of propaganda published on beautiful glossy paper.
Instead of development, and improving his country, Putin wants to strut the world as a military superpower and yearns for the same respect the USSR carried.
I have personally a wary contempt for the man.

Flyers have had no cap space the entire season and it directly played into the construction of this poop roster. They literally have 4k in cap space at the moment.
The difference between someone like Bunnaman and NAK salary wise is huge. So yes, the cap has everything to do with it.

You're looking at their projected cap space number. They have over 3M in available cap space and can easily create more. The have a large number of players on IR.

Don’t we have much more space currently assuming Coots, Hayes and Ellis are on LTIR? Add moving G on top of that and the Flyers should be will to take expiring cap dumps and clean up at the deadline |

As previously stated, the Flyers have been tight against the cap all season. If everyone was healthy they'd still be right against the cap. I understand fully that LTIR has ultimately given them so wiggle room for now.
Idk about "easily creating more", either.

Oh, I’m with you. But my disgust for him as a person doesn’t eradicate my interest in his story.
And I don’t believe that’s odd. I mean, let’s look at the History Channel. Before it was taken over by fake pawn shops, loud mouthed garbage pickers, and bearded bigots hailing ducks, it was largely about WWII, and specifically Hitler.
He might have been a devil incarnate, but that’s some gripping stuff all the same.
The French Revolution is another. Love me some stories of la Terreur |

I did in 1982. Short period spent there courtesy of friends who emigrated here in the nineties and Indiana University. I was in bewtween my junior and senior year in college. Sadly I hardly use my Russian except to communicate with a high school student friend of my wife who teaches in DC. In fact was just congratulating him on having a book published on Russian lit. |
