Its less about earning it and more about being ready. Given the current state of the team if Frost moves into the top 6 right now which center moves out, G or Laughton? Once G is traded there may be a spot for Frost in the top 6, but in the meantime he needs to bring it each shift. Also I disagree with you that there have been many games where Frost has been the best player in his line. Mayhew has been much better and much more consistent. - jd250
Neither, move Willman, add Ratcliffe, give the line more minutes and let Frost play on the Pp and maybe even pk. Just let it roll for the rest of the season, enough of the bs coaching crap. Let the other lines continue to skate
Everyone wants him to keep skating, then let him skate more
Add for heavens sake let Sanheim have some PP X |

With Frost I think that will happen, especially after the deadline. Regarding Sanheim the Flyers have got to either use him in a way that accentuates his strengths or they need to trade him. Sanheim has size but doesn't use it and he doesn't have a lot of strength either. He will never IMO be a great defender and should be kept as far away from the PK as possible. Sanheim's strength is his skating and his offensive game, so the Flyers should have him QB the PP and get him out there on O-zone draws much more. Right now Sanheim has a 61% d-zone starts and that is just plain stupid, this number should be reversed IMO. |

What a load of crap ... have you watched the Sabres this year? Associating the word shutdown and Sabres should be a very big red flag for you. Hagg is playing 17 minutes a game, has 6 points and is a -11. Right, he will have a lot of appeal to playoff teams! |

Take RR off the flyers and insert Hagg. They flyers are no better and no worse. They would still be the same team.
I am not a Hagg fan and do not think he is very good. He will get a mid rd pick easily.
RR -12 - 11 points. He is really killing it. Playing 20 a night by default. Just like in buffalo. Sabres 3.5 goals per game with putrid goaltending. Flyers 3.51 goals per game.

Look, I can't speak or presume I can speak for others' intentions on this forum, I can only speak for myself. I sincerely come here to share my thoughts on the Flyers with other like minded people, and when I say like minded I mean people who love the Flyers as much or even more than I do. I do love the discussion and absolutely hate it when people try to put words in my mouth or misrepresent what I post or the meaning of the words I use. Its petty. I also come to this site to learn, and I do learn lots; from Bill, from passionate posters like MJL, and even you! For example I recently have given you credit for planting the seed in my head that drafting in the top 5 is the very best way of getting top end talent. I have no problem being wrong and admitting it, nor do I have a problem with changing my position, because that means I learned something, accepted it and evolved. I have no problem with people challenging what I post because honestly some of it is well thought out, and some of it is just stream of consciousness while watching another season blow up in smoke. What I don't like are the insults and disrespect towards each other. I try my best to stay above it but I lower myself from time to time, and I typically feel awful afterwards. I also don't like it when others disrespect the purpose of this forum by bringing in topics that are outside of hockey or the Flyers. I come here to talk Flyers, that's it. Anyway, I like MJL a lot, he loves hockey and loves the Flyers, and I often wondered if he and I should have a podcast where people can listen to us argue with other for an hour every day :-) Speaking for myself, its all in good fun and I hope he feels the same way. There are some others however that are completely vial towards me and MJL and it sickens me sometimes, but that's social media, people rarely come on social media to be positive and share good thoughts ... - jd250
Yo, g'morning!
1. Yeah, I love the Flyers too. I love playing/watching sports, and Philly and it is all tied up in my sports fandom. I would just like Flyers to be in a different track though.
2. Now about the kerfuffle yesterday: this place was always much more like a discussion in a bar than a seminar. Always, people said stuff: about pretty girls, their lives, football over the din of background noise, music, beers. Its like that in other parts of HB as well. The intellectual purity you claim doesn't exist and never did.
3. Does that mean I am critical of your efforts to improve things: not at all. I mean I am an academic, and you are preaching to the choir if you want intellectual purity. But if you want me in particular to listen to you, you also need to do the following:
(a) be consistent. Object to discussions about Eagles, music, personal stories, the pictures of the girl with bouncing boobs after Flyers win, the frequent trading of gifs, misinformation about Covid that used to go on etc etc. Object to the guy whose location is a political slogan. Don't try to use intellectual purity to weed out things that are outside your intellectual/ideological comfort zone and use the fig leaf of "of- topic" and so on.
(b) Stop trying to partition the world into sports and politics. There are other things. Our discussion day before was cultural, intellectual, geographical, personal (character of Putin). I don't recall anyone saying anything political. I lean left of center, Iamscore2day leans right. I have zero idea and even less interest in the politics of mochoson, hesh and sinisalvo. It is immediately apparent however they are all of them significantly above average IQ here (which I understand is not saying much). I feel you owe those guys an apology.
(c) In real life and here, I am a loudmouth and somewhat overbearing and dismissive of fools. I can laugh at myself, and if someone smacks me about my superiority complex, I generally acknowledge they have a point. I am also dismissive of the alternate reality phenomenon that has taken root in our public life and many don't like my dismissals. I get it and don't hold it against them. But don't try to use pedantic discussions about intellectual purity to get back at me for the above. Be a man and address the issue that's bugging you straight up.
(d) Try to spend a bit more effort actually listening to people and saying something worth reading. Don't try to use discussions into a stupid game of gotcha. Assume the poster has avalid pov unless you are sure otherwise. There are many issues about Flyers that would benefit from deeper study. This place is not however where anyone with any sense goes to learn about them, which is sad. Try to change that too. Spend some effort to make what you are defending worth defending. I am glad you and MJL get along and like jawing with each other. I am a well wisher of both of you. I also personally consider MJL to be a clown who frankly doesn't register on my radar. As such, I would not be one to subscribe to your podcast.
Now, lets move on. I want to tell 2050 about the eggs benedict I made today.

Ok, what I did was provide a factual timeline of the relevant transactions that occurred in October and November which clearly contradict the posters main premise, which is that NAK was waived because Fletcher wanted to replace NAK with cheaper players, i.e. Brown and MacEwen. However, the facts clearly show that all 3 players were on the Flyers for approximately 1 month before NAK got waived, and the only reason he did get waived was to make room for Kevin Hayes, who is around 6 times more expensive than NAK. My premise is therefore different than the posters. My premise is that Fletcher figured NAK would clear waivers and he could tuck him down on the Phantoms to make a roster spot for Hayes, and he was wrong. Its perfectly OK if you and/or the poster disagree. - jd250
Dude, I told you yesterday. This is not a matter of opinion. The poster claimed money was a consideration in waiving NAK. You admitted money was a consideration in the waiver of NAK in using the phrase I quoted.
End of (frank)ing story. You have conceded his point. |

I always thought Hagg got a bad rap here. Yes I know he is a pylon, but he was a serviceable, game pylon who worked within his limitations and more importanly knew them.
Btw, I made a vegan hollandaise with eggs benedict this morning, which I know you favor:
Eggs poached as usual (3 mins, in water with heat shut off after it boiled). Muffins whole wheat, well toasted, asparagus blanched as per usual, smoked salmon store bought, nothing fancy.
Now before you laugh at the hollandaise, hear out my recipe, and better still try it out: 1/2 cup white beans, 1/2 cup cashews (soaked in warm water for an hour or not needed if you are using a powerful blender like a vitamix or a nutribullet), 1/4 cup nutritional yeast, to taste: lemon juice, black salt (it has sulfur), cayenne. 1/2 tsp turmeric for color.
Does it taste like the real thing? No. It tastes better.

If this pans out, it will be a terrible outcome and, if Comcast were paying attention, a real indictment of the organization. And for everyone who complains about our underwhelming talent, a solid nudge in the direction of our assessment ability and development. This bears watching. |

Where Ristolainen is better than Haag is with offensive ability and puck handling. He is not a better defender than Haag is nor is he more physical. I watch the games and I see a player who lacks hockey sense, takes himself out of position often. Is not effective physically and next to Yandle is the worst defensive defenseman on the team. He's not very good. He is mediocre.

I love RISTO! But I also want him traded at the deadline because I love the Flyers more. IMO Risto is far better than Hagg in terms of capabilities, but you're right about one thing, he does lack hockey IQ. |
