Mayhew.... The AHL talent that is playing better hockey than 95% of our NHL team.
I have no nice words for this franchise and how it handles the young talent

Hell, if he is going to keep putting pucks in the net we better send him back down to the phantoms

Which of the 4 teams in the Met would the Flyers have beaten if they were 100% healthy all yr?? IMO none of them. At best fully healthy Flyers are 6th best team in the Met behind the 4 playoff teams and the Isles. They werent making the playoffs even if healthy.
- hfc355

If the Flyers were healthy and playing like this, they would beat the Caps and Penguins, no doubt about it IMO.

Malkin 32 games
Rust 18 games
Zucker 17 games
Crosby 8 games

That is 4 players in their top 6, if you want to argue Zucker is a third line player fine, but 4 of their top forwards have missed a combined 75 games. Including their top two players missing a combined 40 games. They basically have the top record in the Eastern Conference. It is possible to withstand injuries and compete when you have depth.

- PLindbergh31

Zucker sucks and blows, so putting his name next to Crosby and others is just ignorant. How does this compare to losing your best defenseman and 1st and 2nd line center for the entire season, never mind major portions of your depth to a point where your bottom two lines are AHL players. I think you need to go back to the drawing board ...

Nice to see Mayhew have some NHL success. Late bloomer and former AHL sniper who probably won’t see much NHL ice after this season.
- Minnyhock

And this is exactly why the flyers are bottom feeders now. Mayhew has looked good on both ends of the puck... I'm not sure why he went a call up option before.

Come on Moron you said we have endless depth!!!
You are such a fraud with your BS narrative full of you just being a keyboard blowhard.
Crawl under your rock troll!!

No offense, but I have read MJL for 15 years with a few recent gaps, and I dunno if I have ever read a single troll post of his.

If you get so consistently bothered by an anonymous poster in as inconsequential a forum as this...

I don't know, maybe because he has never shown this capability in the past? I am sure Mayhew was resigned to the fact he would make living in the AHL before this season, and then with all the injuries he was given a chance to shine, and he has done that. Probably no one is more surprised than Mayhew. Good for him, I hope he keeps it up.

Now that the vax rules are relaxed the fans must’ve been banging down the doors to get in to last night’s game.

Dave Scott said that was a big factor in attendance.

- StepfordSam

It is true. That is why it looked more like a caps home game.

He starts every single day on this board with a troll post, just trying to get in arguments. He criticizes everyone and very rarely comes up with his own suggestions, besides Ronnies plan was great.

Were they all out at the same time or out here and there?

Coots has been out since Dec 18th and he was playing hurt before that.
Nate Thompson has been out since late November
Brassard has played 3 games since November and should not have
Brown has played 4 games this year
Hayes didn't play until late Nov played 20 games since then. He has been out a month.
Farabee out a month

Now if Crosby, Malkin, Carter, Zucker and Rust were out for the same length of time at the same time, would Pitt be at the top of the conference?

A little ironic that you would criticize someone for being repetitive. Just sayin'

At least the Flyers have one player leading the league. Yandle has the worst +/- total for the entire NHL.

Really?

Minnesota is in the Western Conference. Flyers play in the Metro division of the Eastern conference and would not be in a playoff race with Minnesota.

- MJL

What does that matter? He said our Cs arent good enough. Minnesota's success with similar point producing Cs is proof they can be.

One could easily argue the Cs on STL, NSH, WPG and DAL are better yet MIN is still 2nd in the division.

I guess I don't see his posts as just designed to evoke a response, which would be a troll post.

Nvm. Is someone going to say something interesting today? How is the 2024 draft supposed to be like? What if we had kept the draft pick and gone for Wallstedt?

Here are the SHL stats for 21-22 for goalies. Note what Wallstedt is doing at the age of 19:
https://www.quanthockey.c...ns/shl-goalies-stats.html.

Down the line, we could have traded Hart and gotten a prime asset back.

How many games has Malkin missed?

Thompson and Brown are slugs. Brassard/Hayes have both tried to return 3 or 4 times from injury this year and have been re-injured every time. What does that tell you?

- PLindbergh31

So? Malkin is 1 player. Flyers are missing several key players all at the same time. It doesnt matter how long Malkin is out because the Pens still have all their other top players.

Malkin was hurt and they had Jeff Carter to replace him.

Would you rather have Carter or Laughton?

Those 3 centers you mentioned wont get the flyers anywhere and they wont win schiit with them. Therefore they are not good enough.

How they rank in the division?

Crosby missed like 8 games. Pitt had all their starting D and their goalie is playing phenomenal.

Starting Centers
1. Coots
2. Hayes
3. Brassard
4. Thompson
5. Brown

Current Centers
G
Laughton
Frost
Bunnaman

- WhiskeyMan

That is a stellar fn group there let me tell you. 3 off the scrap heap which is laughable.

That is a below average center group. Anyway you slice it.

Top 5 teams in Man Games Lost for 2021-22 up to Feb. 10:

MTL 422
BUF 338
VAN 331
PHI 323
ARI 309

- Minnyhock

Interesting the correlation between man games lost and the bottom teams in the league. Four out of 5 of those teams are in the bottom 6 teams in the league. NJ and Seattle being two that are down there with no excuses.

Like I mentioned before how do Minnesota's rank in their division?

Minnesota is 2nd in their division with

How does that compare to:

RoR
R.Thomas
Barbashev

Granlund
RyJo
Sisson

Hintz
Seguin
Glendening

Scheifele
Dubois
Stastny

Toews
TyJo

Last year the Flyers top 8 players missed a combined 24 games, and yet they were a joke. The injury excuse ain't going to fly.

All that matters is the flyers center group isn't good enough. This is a fact. You disagree. That is nice.

Last year the D and goaltending were a mess. Goaltending bounced back and obviously Ellis isnt playing.

We are on pace to score 21 less goals than last season

Defensively we are on pace to slightly improve GA. Flyers were on pace for 294 GA if the 56 game season was an 82 game season. This year they are on pace for 287 GA
