So according to you and Ek every team in contention; plus some pretenders are all going all in this deadline. Cool.

Mind bending.

What's a rade deadline?

So after readers spent about 2 months explaining why Joe Salic wasn't looking at MAF because Kuemper has been great...suddenly they aren't interested in MAF anymore. Now it's Giroux, but also Drouin, and Chiarot, and whoever else makes the rumour chart.

Also like how MAF to the Oilers was an E4+ yesterday, but now the Bruins are in on him. Makes sense.

Also thanks for the insight that Hertl might sign in San Jose. I said that all season. He's going nowhere.

No one is begging you to log onto this site and comment. If you do not like the rumors that’s fine, but no one really cares what you said about said player 6 months ago.

Send Cal to Colorado, he deserves a shot at a Cup, he's been a good Islander!

Cal for a 3rd!

Ok. I'm just trying to keep track of who is going where. It's hard without a rumour chart, especially when the same player is an E3 for one team, an E4+ for another. Also plenty of times when more to come never happens or stuff is never brought up again. Gallagher to the Pens was pretty interesting and then we never heard about it again. Is Philly still desperate for Khudobin? Also if Salic was watching NYI-Mtl why is it assumed Cluetterbuck was his target. Wasn't Colorado already linked to Allen, Drouin, and Chiarot? He's probably watching them.

That's not a bad analysis of the Avs/Giroux situation but I would caution everyone to remember something: when Pierre Lacroix passed away Sakic was asked what he learned from him. He mentioned only one thing. He said Pierre told him to never let anyone know what he's doing, ever. And if you think about it, few of the big deals that Joe has made were rumored. Burakovsky, Grubauer, Kadri (everyone thought he was trying to get Nylander), Toews, Saad, every piece of the Duchene deal, were all out of the blue. Kuemper was the exception. So I would caution folks to take any grand revelation (like the one from the Islanders writer) about who Sakic is after with a large grain of salt. That's not to say Giroux or Clutterbuck won't happen but if it turns out to be Arturri Lehkonen or the return of Jonas Donskoi instead don't be too shocked. Remember when the Avs were the lead destination of Hall for two deadlines in a row?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so desperate for attention.

One thing about a giroux trade with the Avs is I wonder if it is not just purely for rental, but also to maybe fill a hole is Kadri leaves in free agency.

Ek has sources where no one else does. He knows what Salic is doing, he has sources in Montreal that know everything despite the management team all being new, he has a source with the recluse oilers owner that never talks to media, he is connected with sources in the league offices and more.

No one gonna talk about MacKinnon slashing a ref last night? Okay then.

League reviewed it already and said it was incidental and there is nothing further. Moving on…

There was another view that wasn't directly overhead where the stick blade looks like it hit the ice a foot in front of the refs leg. This is pretty much verified by the ref not flinching like he would from a hard slash and skating away. So it appears that MacKinnon not only didn't try to hit the ref but also didn't hit the ref.

also not fair to compare a 100 year old franchise to a 5 year old (already) franchise , that surprised the hockey world in its first year...

That's an interesting thought and it occurred to me also but I suspect they think Newhook is close enough to being able to fill 2C that they'd rather spend the money on the other UFA's aside from Kadri - Nichushkin, Burakovsky and Kuemper. Especially since Nichushkin and Burakovsky are also on that 2nd line.

Kadri is a lost cause - there's no way he'd take a discount deep enough. It's the only time in my sports watching career I'll be happy for someone on my team walking away with nothing in return. He's going to get a huge payday, I just hope it's out of the conference or at least out of the division - he'd be just about perfect on a team like LA.

Of the UFA's aside from him I'd put the money into Kuemper and Nichushkin.

When you say Kuemper I assume you mean MAF. No way Kuemper stays if MAF parachutes in as the playoff starter. That was an E4 so it's almost done...

I stand corrected HB. E4 is pretty strong so I guess that one's a fait accompli. At least it's not Jake Allen. I'll miss Kuemper...

Exactly. That's like calling the Kraken "perennial losers" after this season.
