A quick mention of poor goaltending directly relating to these “inconsistencies” and “confidence building” points you speak of would’ve helped your point you tried to make… be prepared to be bashed, again, as usual.

New Jersey with 2 1st oa and other high picks, still near the bottom of the league. Looks like they’ve taken the Oiler rebuild model. How can they be so bad?

Doesn't matter how good the rest of the team is if your goaltending can't stop a beach ball. That's all it comes down to, and unfortunately thats not an easy fix.

It also doesn't help that we have only played 16 out of 50 games with both Hughes and Hamilton in the lineup.

So if this team can somehow get league average or better goaltending next year and they stay healthy, it's pretty easy to see them as a bubble team. It's not as dire as it seems fortunately, but again it all comes down to fixing the goaltending.

Nice seeing Luke with some nice individual play, but barely any of that will be possible at the nhl level, and what matters to me is actually playing defense. Time will tell.

Yep agree, and his defense has been subpar. Which is why he'll remain in college next season.

Devils are confusing, they seem to have some good pieces but can’t put it all together. As a Flames fan, I know all about goaltending issues, since we signed Markstrom though things have changed.
Hamilton is a huge loss was sorry to see him leave Calgary but the return has worked out well for us.

What's confusing? We have only drafted quality players in the past few season. The rest of the roster is filled with veterans or AHLers.

What's your point? If the players you draft are bad then your team is still bad. Draft position has nothing to do with how good a team is. Those are just the positions in which you've drafted a player. They are still lottery tickets.

Oilers are still trash and they have McDavid and Draisaitl on their team. You need to be able to fill in the rest of the roster to actually be a good team.

Point is the higher you pick the better your chances, the more you pick the better your chances.
Not sure your reference to lottery tickets, every team makes mistakes drafting but having 10 1st round selection in the last 7 drafts, 2 of which were 1st oa, you’d expect the team to be in better shape. Not sitting near the bottom of the league going for another top 5 pick. Just an observation, that’s all.

Oh, well thank you for your helpful observation that the Devils are poop. I wasn't aware.

Yes, and they sitting literally at the bottom because of goaltending. Literally nothing else. That is legitimately the only reason theyre as low as they are. Lol.

I'm not going to get deep into it again, but multiple people have done the math and everything on twitter, with just league average goaltending the Devils are the 1st team out of the playoffs. Ahead of Detroit/CBJ.

The offense is good and should only get better, the defense is acceptable, and the goaltending is a flat out poop show completely sinking the ship.

So it is what it is. Management either fixes the goaltending situation and they will actually be in meaningful games the last month or two of the season, or they do nothing and we end up being a top candidate in the Bedard/Michkov/Fantilli sweepstakes next year. That's what it comes down to.

Thanks, as I don’t get to watch alot of Devil games was just wondering why they weren’t better. Goaltending is the most important piece, hopefully you guys get some help there

- vlongo4419

Disappointing. Studenic was probably not a big part of the future however. But why him and not Geerston, who really only provides comedy relief. Studenic would have been helpful to Utica.

On Insider Trading, LeBrun said the Devils are "aggressively calling around the league about a goaltender for the rest of the season."

It's stuff like this that makes you think you're going to overpay for Korpisalo and still have bad goaltending. it would be interesting to see if a team is willing to trade a goalie prospect that we would promote but I don't really know what team is in that position right now anyway.

Exactly my first thought. Apparently the asking price for him is a 2nd and 3rd, and I want no part of that tbh. Guys I'd look into are Forsberg, Georgiev, and Kahkonen. Maybe one of the Washington guys? Doubt any of them are moved in season though. ther than that there's not much out there I'd give up assets for. Its definitely tougher to make a goalie trade mid season.

Daws really has been fantastic tonight. Crazy what happens when you actually get some saves. Offense capitalizing on some weak goaltending but nice to see them score a lot of goals regardless.

Funny how that goaltending thing works. Normally we're the team getting the better of play but we don't finish and our goalie singlehandedly sinks the team. Tonight it's the completely opposite. We're getting dominated, but Daws is playing very well and Jarry sucked ass. The Pens so far tonight are what the Devils have been like most of this season.
