February 24th and it’s next year time already! For a team at the top of the salary cap limit.
Disappointing.

Hey True North keep sending out emails about how safe everyone feels about attending Jets games in person instead of fans staying away because of the growing underlying sentiment of disgust with the product/effort which is on display.

Next year top on the list. Trotz.

Sell, sell, sell.

Great game by Helle, not his fault, he did his job.

Within a 6 minute span in the second period, including the pp where the short hand goal was scored, I counted three times where the shooters could have taken a shot in tight and chose to pass into 4 sets of legs, thus ending the play.

So, what do you do when a team of shooters won't shoot the biscuit? A sleepy Stars team last night and the Jets found a way to blow it.

Sell, sell, sell, then get a new coaching staff here in summer. Its so past due imop. Maybe even new GM. Look at Minny after replacing the GM.

This is not just a player issue, mgmt and coaching need refreshing.

Get rid of Adam Lowry and his dad. Get rid off the coaching staff and while we are at it, see ya later Chevelallseasonoff.

After the Jets get rid of him he can change his name to Chevelallcareeroff.

The Jets biggest move has to be a new head coach like Quenneville, or Trotz. They should be sellers at the deadline. Copp, Stastny, Demelo, Schmidt, Toninato, Beaulieu and even Pionk should be traded at the deadline or draft. This team needs to keep their better pieces and trade for, sign as free agents or promote from within to improve this inconsistent and soft team.

The Jets are the Flames of last season. Find a coach that the players will listen to. This team is too good not to make the playoffs.

I agree about the coaching staff Ultimate, these guys are so past their best before date and papa Lowry hasn't made a difference whatsoever, he needs to go.
Not sure about Chevy BUT he should be on a very hot seat, he's almost out of time.

I've heard some excuses made for him that it's too hard to change systems mid season and while there may be some truth to that there is some minor changes that could be made quite easily like having the forwards cover the opposition dmen in the defensive zone but we haven't seen anything different then what Maurice was doing, this team needed more then just a different voice.

Adam Lowry has 6 even strength points in 51 games and 10 points total which is just pathetic, he's painful to watch if he isn't throwing fists which is one of the few things he's good for, if he was making half of what he is now centering the 4th line and chucking knuckles he'd be great but at 3C he's just taking up space and contributing little, can't believe anyone thinks he's a good player.

Wins faceoffs, kills penalties, and stands up for him teammates - I don't think I am referring to Scheifele.

This team will go no where as long as it panders to Wheeler and Shief.

Classic Shief game. 2 points but minus 1. He costs us more than he provides.

I loved jennifer botterhil highlighting in the pre game how drastically more successful the Jets are when the D carry the puck out of the D zone compared to the forwards.
You know who does this well, Heinola!!!! You know who can not do this. Stanley!!!!

So essentially what I am hearing on this board is that Scheifele is supposed to:

-Fight other teams goons in order to stick up for his team mates.
-Win 99% of face-offs.
-Play like a defenseman.
-Play like an offensive juggernaut (which he already is).
-Make players around him better (which he already does).
-Be a leader (which he already is).
-Play goalie.
-Coach the team.
-Develop proper breakout and defensive schemes.
-Deliver big hits.
-Kill penalties like he is Guy Carbonaeu.
-Play on the power play like he is Wayne Gretzy, Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull, Adam Oates, and Alexander Ovechkin rolled all into one.
-Play 25 minutes/game (which Maurice had him doing regularly).

I am unsure if I am missing anything else that Scheifele is supposed to do.

Yes Lowry is good at winning faceoffs and I did mention he's a good fighter, he's a terrible penalty killer though, pretty sure we could get some 4th liners to do those things just as good for far cheaper.

This team would be much better with a 3C that could produce a bit of offense.

Stanley wasn't playing soooo.....

Didn't see many criticizing Heinola for being on for the two Hawks goals with his poor defensive gap, why is that... 🤔

So essentially what I am hearing on this board is that Scheifele is supposed to:

-Fight other teams goons in order to stick up for his team mates. - lol, like this would ever happen, maybe start with not arguing a penalty call against you for the first time ever.
-Win 99% of face-offs. - never going to happen, be nice if he got over 50 consistently
-Play like a defenseman. - how about just learn to play a little D
-Play like an offensive juggernaut (which he already is). - he is currently 58th in league scoring, juggernaut, not even close
-Make players around him better (which he already does). nope, never does this
-Be a leader (which he already is). nope, it is widely known he is the biggest off ice whinner and problem child for the organization, that is not a leader, also a leader doesn't make a ridicoulous dangerous play in the playoffs that gets himself suspended
-Play goalie. couldnt be worse than Pavlec
-Coach the team. id try anyone right now, even the kid who delivers my flyers
-Develop proper breakout and defensive schemes.
-Deliver big hits. - only does this when he wants to get suspended
-Kill penalties like he is Guy Carbonaeu. - he cant play D 5 vrs 5 not pk is right for him
-Play on the power play like he is Wayne Gretzy, Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull, Adam Oates, and Alexander Ovechkin rolled all into one. - not without Laine making him look better
-Play 25 minutes/game (which Maurice had him doing regularly). costs us everygame

Hey I like Heinola but lets not kid ourselves he's on for a lot of goals against too, at this point I don't think it makes much difference which one of the two is on the blueline.

That was probably more just due to who the Jets were playing when Stanley was injured, will be interesting to see how it does tomorrow against the Avs scary powerplay... 😱

The difference is that Heinola is a learning, young, offensive defenseman. Young defenseman struggle in this league. As a pretty average sized guy, he doesn't have the experience yet to be a great defender. He is great with transitions, and moving the puck up ice, and even does find himself in a lot of positive positions defensively. He just needs reps, which he isn't getting.

As for Scheifele, he has been the #1 guy on this team for a while. He has carried a lot of weight on his shoulders, and sure, there did seem to be some disconnect between him and the team over the last while, but he is still doing his job. With his TOI dropping a lot (relatively) since the coaching change, he has still been producing similar points as of late. His defensive game was always average, but is falling off a bit this year. Could it be coaching? Could it be effort? Could it be a nagging LBI? We don't know. He has been more than fine on the PP, but the whole unit has struggled. He has been fine on faceoffs, and many seem to forget that despite all of the struggles we are mentioning, he still has 42 points in 45 games. Mark Scheifele is not the problem. Do I think trading him will solve all the issues on this team? Of course not. But, depending on the direction this team commits to, trading him could be beneficial for the team.

I will be releasing an article I have been working on either Saturday night, or Sunday afternoon. I will be exploring who should be on their way in, and out at the trade deadline, and explore some mock trades. Leave your mock trades down below, and I may use some of them in the article. Looking forward to this one!

here's a few, I realize all heavy in Jets favor but one can hope.

Copp to EDM for Dylan Hollaway
Copp to NYR for Schneider
Sheif to LA for Turcotte, Brandt, 2nd rounder
Stastny to anyone for a 2nd and 4th
Stanley to Philly for Konecny
Dillan to anyone for a first
Stanley or Copp to Leafs for Knives and a 2nd or 3rd

All assuming we are sellers.

I am going to stick with roster changes and leave out the later draft picks and organizational depth moves. Jets 2.0 biggest trades have been with Rangers, Vegas, Columbus and Blues. On the business side jets can use this trade deadline to shed some payroll, make room for prospects, and some asset management. Also assumes that Kekäläinen is still a riverboat gambler with playoff aspirations.

Rangers - Brendan Dillon (ld) -- Braden Schneider (rd)
Blues - Brian Little -- 2nd round pick? prospect?
Vegas - Vesalainen -- Kolesar, Keegan
Columbus - Copp -- Cole Sillinger

i dont see trading any or all of Stasny, Copp, Dillan as us giving up. Perfetti, Ehlers and Gustafson will all be back or can play at some point up front and Heinola, and Samberg can step in on the back end as well as others. Obviously shief would be a big move. i am very, VERY!! curious to see what a new coach and syste,s could do with shief but their needs to be a shift in this being him and wheels team where those two play more then anyone else.

as for your trades, id love to get Schneider!! Bryan Little is not cleared yet so that one confuses me, i dont know those guys in Vegas well so cant weigh in and of Sillinger would be huge but he is like our Perfetti, no way he's moved.

Trade Copp, Stastny, Schmidt, Beaulieau and Toninato for picks and/or prospects at the trade deadline. Pionk at the deadline/draft for needed toughness.
