Idk why would fletcher rebuild if it’ll cost him his job. He’s just going to rearrange the deck chairs on a sinking ship. He’ll acquire picks at the deadline for the purpose of acquiring ufa rights.

Not what I am saying, Im saying that if he is going to rebuild while appearing to win now

If he turned it down then he should be one and done. I honestly don’t see someone else paying that much for that long going forward.

They need Brassard to get healthy and play so they can trade him at the deadline. You need to think big picture here. Frost can work on breaking his bad habits just as easily on the Phantoms as he can playing 3rd line minutes in the NHL. Frost and York will be here post deadline.
- jd250

Trade Brassard for what a 7th rnd pick? Some kid that we will never hear from again after his name is announced on draft day or someone lists him as the 23rd best prospect in the organization 4 years from now…
Makes sense to continue to (frank) around with our best prospect for such a valued asset.

I’ve liked his game this year to a point…I’m not sure he’s earned that but you might be right….some may pay that.

What happened to the injuries and Covid hurting the team? What happened to if it wasn't for that bad luck, the Flyers would be a playoff team? What happened to Ristolainen being the best defenseman on the team and one of the best in the league? Bringing at element to the team that they needed and checking all the boxes? They weren't in a position to overpay for him last season but they did. You green lighted the move just like you will all the future moves.

Listen to Jordon Hall's latest podcast with Taryn Hatcher. Taryn and Al Morganti she said observed the Flyers Blues game from the press box high above the ice for several minutes, and she noticed that all St. Louis had to do was dump and chase, and they were able to retrieve the puck, set up zone time and generate great scoring chances. She said this went one for several minutes and Jones had to make some nice stops to keep the Flyers in the game.

Why do you think this is? The reason is teams know how to beat the Flyers and this has been true for several years now. I know an NHL scout who I see at games from time to time and he told me this, that teams know that the Flyers defense is soft and not mobile and thus if they can get the puck below the goal line, they can take advantage of the Flyers defenseman and get scoring chances. The ONLY current Flyers defenseman that teams don't want any part of is Rasmus Ristolainen, FACT not opinion. This was the entire reason Fletcher went out and got Ellis and Risto, to attempt to circumvent this obvious weakness that every other team has been exploiting for seasons now. When teams dump, they dump on Sanheim's side, not Risto's. And Risto has been the ONLY Flyers defenseman that consistently wins board battles, separates opposing forwards from the puck and gets the puck up to his forwards.

After this point, the gaps and poor break out schemes have proved to be prime turnover causes that have sunk the Flyers the past few seasons also. But make no mistake about it, Risto has been the ONLY Flyers defenseman that has been able to counteract this a bit, and if he is traded or does not wish to resign with the Flyers, Fletcher will have yet another big hole to fill in this area.

Snow the Goalie Podcast says Flyers offered Ristolainen 6.25 x 6 years. Ristolainen declined.

I would not be happy with that. Too much for too long

Why TF are they even considering resigning him in the first place?

Ok, first of all, Frost is not our best prospect. Secondly Frost is not being yanked around, he is learning and developing. Its often good for a young player to sit out a game or two, watch video and games from above, identify improvements and then go practice them.

Just briefly skimmed through. More nonsense. Apparently other teams don't want any part of Ristolainen yet he bleeds scoring chances and goals. If it wasn't for Yandle and Seller, he would be the worst. You should stick with your big picture comment of having to play Brassard to get that big asset at the deadline. Meanwhile you can't figure out that the development of Frost is the big picture and the priority.

People might be pleasantly surprised with the returns on some UFAs. No guarantee of course. All depends on the market but people around the league say:

Giroux's return has been compared to possibly the return we got for Forsberg. Especially if guys like Hertl and Pavelski come off the board. Flyers got a 1st, Parent and Upshall for Forsberg

Speculation is Flyers could get back a 1st and a 2nd for Ristolainen

Flyers could end up with as much as a 2nd or 3rd for Braun.

None Flyer related news:

Nashville is reportingly looking into moving Forsberg as well. I dont really understand this given their playoff position but its a rumour from Andy Strickland.

He hasnt. The going rate for 2nd pair guy is 5.5 mill. Makes some sense in the affect that you are paying to avoid FA but its still too much and the term is way too long. You cant really have 3 Dmen on a team making northward of 6+ mill

Probably because Forsberg is about to be UFA and I’m guessing he hasn’t been receptive to an extension.

I dont think there are any offers right now. Theres still a month to go before the deadline. GMs are likely just in talks right now and trying to gain the necessary room to make the additions.

I understand that but he's a big part of their team heading into the playoffs. Subtracting at the deadline as a playoff team doesnt make much sense.

Fletcher stated it at his last presser, they acquired Risto with the intention on signing him to a new contract.

Risto. For all his physicality is not great at winning board battles. Better than other flyers dmen sure. He’ll go in for the hit but all too often the other player escapes with the puck.
