Unless I'm mistaken the 2024 draft.

2022 2nd - Given up for the Ghost trade
2023 2nd - Given up in the Risto trade

- Flyers_01

Correct. The Flyers as of now don't have a 2nd round pick in the next two drafts.

whatever "value" JVR has, do you really think that will change in any way i nthe next few weeks?

Then why not put him with the 2 best players then according to your logic?

- hello it's me 2050

You don’t understand. I don’t think either option is logical. JVR at his best was a 3rd liner. He was only a 4th liner for failed experiments. I don’t know why he hasn’t been on Frost’s wing, but I think he will be dealt before next season.

Edit - All the picks for getting rid of Ghost are from the upcoming draft

No I meant the 2023 2nd round pick would be like a 1st. Flyers dont have 2nd in 2022 or 2023. You are right on that.

Somewhere he can be a mentor like Buffalo, Montreal or Arizona.

Why don't you watch the games instead of looking at numbers. If Risto were playing for a team that actually had a good zone breakout scheme, his numbers would be much, much better. Too often I see Risto win a board battle and get the puck up to a forward, only to see that forward fail to clear the zone or turn it over for another scoring attempt. Is that on Risto? The answer to this question is irrelevant to metrics since all they care about is counting scoring chances against when a player is on the ice. That is why you watch the games!

But metric wise, Risto has 823 chances against this season, which ranks him 3rd out the top 4 defenseman on the team. Sanheim is #1 at 934 chances against, Provorov is #2 at 874 chances against and Braun is #4 at 804 chances against. Its funny how you don't mention this in your posts, that Sanheim and Provorov, both drafted by Hextall, have more chances against than Risto. Hmmmm

Frost will be benched for brassard... Unbelievable....
This is a damn joke we have no future because we can't develop talent properly
Absolutely no reason why frost should not be playing in the NHL

How long before he requests a trade? And I can't blame him if he does

If this thing really goes in the tank by them trying to retool with washed up players yet again then Harris should really look to sell the Devils and buy the Flyers. Then he can finally have the amount of control of the Wells Fargo Center he’s wanted for years now.

Not to mention he can’t be any worse of an owner than Comcast.

I honestly can't understand why anyone thinks this is an ownership issue.

In the past, young guys have raved about his off-ice health and wellness care and about teaching how to be a pro. They obviously let him be on a line with Farabee for stretches, not sure why not with Frost.

Bobby Clarke is back!
Never saw a 2nd round pick he didn't trade.

Maybe so but for that cap contract is be wanting a lot more production. They can sign a lot of different vets to be mentors for a lot cheaper if they want to.

We’ll see. I guess my real fear about it is what goes with or comes back in trade.

Oh he is absolutely perfect for the Flyers. A 34 year old player with 3 more years after this year at a cap hit of 6.25M. What quality future assets can we give up for him?
- MJL

Word is that Jeff Petry has given zero (frank)s on the ice this season.

Seamless fit.

This is the first I’m hearing about a mid season change in cap hit. When does that happen?
- hereticpride

Prorated cap hit my man.

At the TDL, with 40 days left in the season, a team would only need ~$1.65M in cap space to fit G in.

Today, with 63 days left in the season, they'd need ~$2.65M.

By saving that $1M a team could squeeze in $5M AAV worth more player contracts at the TDL, so it's kind of a big deal.

Absolutely agree. They have to play Frost to his strengths. Being in the lineup also helps. Ridiculous.

You've avoided it on this thread and have not responded to what Bill wrote. We both know why.
- MJL

Oh really, why? Listen to what Brent Flahr told Bill and Jason yesterday about Morgan Frost and then come back and apologize, because he told them the exact same thing I am have been posting here for weeks about Frost. Bill thinks that putting Frost on a line with G and Cam for the entire season is the best way to develop him. You obviously feel the same way. I don't and neither does Mike Yeo, Brent Flahr, Danny Briere and Chuck Fletcher. In this instance, I'm fine with the group I'm with thank you very much.

JVR a mentor?? For what, how to dress properly for road trips? How bout how to chew that mouth piece a certain way? That's about all I can think of. He just might be the laziest player in the entire NHL. Not a mentor. Thanks!
