Fehervary had a rough night, twice pickpocketed behind the net resulting in two ML goals. Caps just seem to lack intensity. They are not going anywhere.

That defensive squad is soo bad, reminds me of Ovechkin's first couple years.

They'll be fine, the East playoff teams are set. They'll make it in as a 7/8 WC seed.

Columbus will be in front of them by the end of march.

The two phantom "tripping" calls made this game closer than it should have been. One led to a goal.
Credit to the Caps for their PK. The Leafs rarely get shut down with 4 opportunities. The key is to pressure and pursue relentlessly. That always works against their PP and I'm surprised more teams haven't noticed.

Got laugh reading the Capitals Writer being “ disappointed in the Maple Leafs” last night. A wonderful conclusion to bring after watching one game of the 35-14-4. 5th place overall club

I didn’t think the Maple Leafs played particularly well last night but still controlled the game. The stats back up that assertion. If not for a few dodgy tripping penalties and a sloppy SH goal against, the game would have been a blowout.

I guess you could say I was a bit dramatic lol. To be fair, I have watched many Leafs games throughout the year. I am a huge fan of hockey and I am generally tuning in every night to whatever game that catches my eye. The Capitals have struggled mightily in 2022. They are 8-12-2 which ranks 26th in the NHL for the year. Where the Leafs are 15-6-2 which ranks 8th and to your point...5th overall on the season. The Capitals have played well below average this year and I was just expecting this elite Leafs team to further expose the Caps 2022 flaws. To the Caps credit, they played a fantastic game (minus a few lapses). I thought for sure the Caps would be leading in the CorsiFor% but to my surprise when I pulled the stats for the game, it was the Leafs who held the edge at all strengths and 5v5. It felt like the Caps controlled the puck for almost the entire third period but you are correct and the stats say otherwise! Thanks for the comment!

I've struggled to watch Caps games this year; post-December they've been quite miserable.

Russian contingent probably should get a psychologist or two (given the current state of things), but the team overall - outside of a few players who seem to be excelling under Lavs - are kind of...meh.
