I mean I guess it wouldn’t hurt for depth but I don’t see how Middleton would crack the lineup unless someone gets hurt.

He would probably crack the lineup with his fist.

Would be a decent add. Would also like a bigger splash on D.

It’s all a hard road that I’m sure is being discussed. They will likely play one of Florida, TB or Carolina. A first exit is all a real possibility. But they can beat any of those teams too if they address a few areas. Pretty risky!

I don't even know where I would want to land. Florida and Carolina are great teams that are motivated and have a lot to prove.

Almost would rather just land on Tampa first round. They are not as deep as they once were.

The East playoffs are going to be incredible this year.

Sounds like a typical Sweeney move... "I dont have the moxie to pull off a deal for an impact player so I'll just add another depth piece".

Yup the East is intense!
With this competition I think you gotta look at players with some term left. With the stiff competition you would hate to go all in on a big rental and be bounced first round. Unless you are the leafs with Foligno last year. lol…
I would be fine with dropping a 2nd on a rental.

Sweeney doesn't have the assets to make a big move or top any other teams offer. he's squandered that from previous bad trades, poor drafting, and questionable free agency contracts

It's going to be something like this, Lawson Crouse or both. Get used to the idea.

The team especially up front and in net has looked really good lately. Heating up at the right time. I think it will be entertaining but again you have to have actual assets to move in order to get ones in return. Unless I'm missing something here, Sweeney has nothing of real value to move without damaging the roster.

IF (and this is a big if) Sweeney really wanted to go ALL in, multiple first round picks, Lysell, Carlo (in the right trade that brings a great D man back), Gryz, Debrusk. Then to a lesser degree second round picks, Beecher, Frederick, Vaak, Zboril, Clifton (insert name here of a throw in for a trade).

Not saying trade all that away at once, but any trade would involve a ton of parts which makes it hard. If Sweeney traded some or all of those bigger parts, the expectation would be to win. And if he didnt, he should be fired, again IF he traded those things away to win now.

Most likely scenario, he plays it safe and tries to keep parts for the future and then the degradation of the core continues and we try to figure out what life without Bergeron is like.

Gryz is an interesting name one that list. Would Jack Aachan make him expendable? Similar to Gryz and Krug? DeBrusk is going to be difficult move. His qualifying offer is 4 mil.

I think any trade that involves Carlo or Gryz needs to return an non-rental d man. But a hypothetical to be sure.

Easiest way in my mind to get rid of DeBrusk is have him pre-negotiate an extension for less than 4 for 1 to 2 years and then maybe teams will unpucker a little bit.

but he probably thinks he's worth more than that, why would he sign for less if to retain his rights, he'll get 4?

Uhhh, this.

Dont forget two more years of Reilly and Forbort at 3.

One more year of Foligno, the Perma-IR molasses foot wonder at 3.8

But regarding your prior response, maybe he will take less if he knows he is getting out? Who knows. All eyes on Sweeney to do, you know, something.

I think the Bruins have some pretty good trade chips.
2022 picks, Lysell, Lohrei, Achan, Vaak, Zboril, Beecher, Studnicka.
Some roster players Debrusk, Gryz…

I’m not trading Lysell unless it’s in a package to land Chychrun.

Of the ones you listed, the only players I can see other teams wanting are lysell, maybe vaak, debrusk in the right trade and gryz. All the others are small to moderate sweeteners in a larger trade. No one is seeking them

No. This kid has proven he is not an NHLer. See Bourque, Chris. That's most likely his ceiling.

Its too bad he didnt work out. Would have been nice to draft a stud (pun very much intended) with that pick because I believe it was the last pick ever rewarded for executive compensation before they got rid of that rule. We got studnicka when the oilers hired chiarelli

Still a better deal for Boston
