Well coached teams have players that WANT to play the way the coach wants them to play. In HS you don't have a choice, you play the way the coach wants or you are off the team. In the NHL in a season like this, the interim coach has very little if any leverage.

That's unfair, because I have been critical of Yeo in terms of his game management and PP management, but this system thing you keep harping on I just don't agree that is on the coach.

It's not unfair, its accurate. Your opinion will be religiously formed by what the coach says in a presser or what podcast you listened to that day.

Not true. I like Yeo's pressers and find them insightful. BTW I just watched the play again, I have to say it was a break down of the entire line there. Coming up the ice the Flyers were in great position, 2 D back, Brassard in the middle and 2 wingers trailing, completely containing the 3 Montreal players heading up ice.

The first mistake is Sanheim lets the Montreal forward blow right by him along the boards. Then Risto seems to panic and totally overcompensate by sliding across to break up the centering pass when there was no need to do so. He could instead just stayed in net front coverage and let Hart handle the player coming out of the corner. Brassard was in the right position all the way down low in the right place but then drifted towards the boards as he puck watched leaving the Montreal player Pitlick wide open for a pass. Cam and G were also lazy coming up the ice and G left his weak side coverage also. All in all it was a bad play by all 5 players! Again how can you lay this on the coach??

Frost has had at best what you can call an uneven game tonight. He has made a few nice plays including that pass to G for the 2nd goal, but he's also made several bone head plays and missed a few opportunities. He has much more work to do! I don't like him to be honest and I would trade him if I could.

You make post after post after post on what a coach said, what you read somewhere or heard on a podcast. You are easily influenced.
I have no real issue with what Ristolainen did there. He was not guarding against the player coming out. He was trying to take away the pass to the far post where if the puck gets through him, a shooter is one on one with Hart.
How can I lay this in the coach? Pretty simple. Same thing happening over and over. It is the coaches job to fix these issues. He has failed to do so. You argued with me about the coaches before right before Vigneault was fired. You said it wasn't on the coaches then either.

I'm actually amazed thousands of people are still going to these games.
