Going for a line change when no one called for one?
- MJL
Wow .. you really never played a game in your life. Why do you even bother to comment, you are just embarrassing yourself now. |

Risto made a play on the puck and unfortunately crashed into the boards and got shaken up. I don't think Sanheim expected Risto to do that and thus was surprised when the puck ended up in the corner so he was slow to react. But to me that goal was all on Brassard. He turned the puck over in the Montreal end and then did a poor job on net front coverage. As the center on that line its your job to cover the net front when your defenseman go into the corners and Brassard just was not in the right position. The real problem also was the Flyers were too passive on the puck in the Montreal end. you got 1 minute left in the game and your on a PP, its all about puck possession in the moment, and I think the Flyers just gave up possession too easily. - jd250
I mostly agree with you but again, you need to brush up on your systems. It's not automatically the center that is responsible for down low play. Defensively the first forward back assumes the center defensive role. Unless you're playing something like a center lock, which the Flyers don't play.

two guys open and Brassard didn’t cancel either of them out. - rayc16
It’s just more of what they are. A team that can’t put together a solid 60 minute effort with any regularity. I think Yeo deserves a clean slate some times, then I see a game like tonight and I’m back to hoping they clean house again. |

You're right, a player can't go off the ice for a line change unless someone calls for it.
The player coming off the ice signals to the bench that he is changing. I don't disagree that it was a bad change. |

Hopefully a full new coaching staff. I would really like them to find a younger non recycled coach….. but part of me wants Torts here. |

Well, mostly agree is a big step for us. Given where Giroux was on that play I think Brassard was expected to cover the net front and he just didn't didn't do anything useful there. |

Regardless of Risto down in the corner, it’s poor coverage in their own end…when there’s no reason to be outmanned like that….they didn’t need to score again they just had to put up resistance. It’s been a calamity of mental errors all year again….after a calamity of errors for most of last season. |

Now, to be fair, I was not in the building or on the ice, but I am basing my statement on what TK and Giroux were doing at the time Frost changed. Neither looked like they were expecting a change, nor did the bench seem ready for Frost to leave the ice. To be fair maybe Frost got hurt and decided to get to the bench early in the shift, but he didn't seem hurt after that so unless Yeo is asked, I have to assume it was just a brain fart from Frost. |

What else is new with this team? Even with Risto out of the play, it still is 4 on 4 and yet even then there are two Canadiens parked in front of the net with Brassard the closest Flyer to them, but out of position. It was comical and indicative of a team that unfortunately played scared to lose, and if you play any sports the one constant is if you play not to lose, you will lose. |

The issue that I have is not that the criticism wasn't warranted on the play but your description of making a line change when nobody called for it. Then you compounded it with the asinine comment of wow, I never played the game, embarrassing, blah, blah, blah. When in reality your description there points towards you. Also the hyperbole of all the bone head plays.

It's indicative of a poorly coached team who still can't get their defensive assignments worked out.

Is there any other way to lose a game at this point? I mean this Flyers team is going to be a reference team for many years to come, demonstrating to other teams the various ways you can possibly lose a game. Its tragically comical |

This team is hot mess! Who the F made the decision to have interim coach for over 1/2 the year? If the upper management doesn’t care about this season why the F should the players of the fans give a F.
This decision was as bad as any I’ve seen. If the owner and top people are “ mailing in” a season why would the players go all in to win when management doesn’t care. How can any owner/ manager as their employees to care more the the people in charge.
This is part, a big part, of why this team has a losing culture throughout.
They are getting what they deserve. |
