Parise at the league minimum in my mind is a no brained. The guy is so effective on the fire check. Guy works his ass off every shift. - nyisles7
I agree but I don't see him signing for league minimum again.. he did it this year b/c he got a HUGE payout from the Wild and it was a "prove he can still play" kind of contract. He has played well but hasn't blown people away... while I don't see him making a fortune someone will give him a few mill a year. don't see him signing for 750k

Varly will go for a 2nd Rd Pick.
Clutter will go for a 3rd Rd Pick. Becomes a 2nd if the team resigns him.
Parise will go for a 3rd Rd Pick.
Maybes will be:
Bailey for a pick and maybe prospect.
Chara for a pick.
Greene for a pick.
Outside Chance:
Mayfield Maybe pick and prospect bc of contract. Would be part of a deal.
AB - Forward or Defenseman would be part of a deal.

I would rather they sign Clutterbuck at a price around Martin/Casey for a couple of years, but if they don't sign him I would move him for sure...
Varly will get moved for something better than we think Lou can get.. especially if he keeps playing well and teams keep struggling in net. - niteislander
There isn't a huge market for goaltenders this year, so there won't be much competition to drive up price.
Word is Edmonton is on Varly's no-trade list. That essentially leaves Vegas, who likely can't swing it with the cap, Toronto, and Washington. Purely me guessing on this one: Lou won't be dying to trade Varly to a Metro team. Which effectively leaves Toronto, who would have to get creative with the cap as well.
The East playoffs are pretty much set. Nobody in Columbus' position or lower is going to look for a goaltender at the deadline. |

Matthews was suspended for two games. I don't know, but maybe this was his first offense? |

Every year IHM? The last 3 years they were in the mix during the whole season. This year, the long road trip, Covid ( NHL (frank)ing ) and injuries certainly put the Islanders behind the eight ball and it hampered their ability to get on track imho.
Team looks like a different team now than in the beginning of the year without a doubt. Palms had definitely recovered from his nagging injury and Lee has gained the confidence in his knee and looks like himself as well. I don’t think there will be a huge shakeup to the team except as Upstate said, Chara, Parise and Cal but I think the majority of this team will stay intact. - nyisles7
Okay, so we were discussing this year and years coming. Obviously we all know about the last 3 years. I don’t think there needs to be any major retool. As I said (several times) just a few tweaks to get younger and faster. I love the way Parise plays. Fine if they resign him. |

Why Mayfield? His contract gives you wiggle room to sign others. You move him how do you get another right handed dman to replace him at his price. He’s an absolute bargain.

I thought 3 games was fair so I’ll take the 2 especially if it’s his first offense. |

Not to mention he's been pretty solid the last few years. He's not going to get you a bunch of points, but that's never been his game. |

NHL network certainly doesn't agree with that assessment.. Avs, Toronto, Vegas, and others all need a proven playoff Goalie.

If you aren't getting a first for Varly my guess is they keep him until this summer b/c of how many games.
Clutter for a 3rd is not worth moving him b/c of what he means to this team.
Parise u move him for whatever u can get if you don't extend him a year or 2.

Chief already said Vegas & Toronto would have to somehow wiggle the cap space to get him in. As for the Avs, their 2 goalies seem to be doing fine. They're top 10 in quite a few goaltending categories. I don't really see the need to move him, but if they do then they do. Who would they have back up Sorokin? Skarek? Bring in someone else? |

Toronto is about the only one that seems remotely plausible to me, but we'd be taking back Petr Mrazek and the two more years he has at $3.8M and I'm not super keen on that unless they're sending a big time haul along with him.
Colorado has bigger needs/wants than a $5M goaltender, plus they just traded for Josh Manson.
It's possible that the Islanders could work a "hockey deal" with a non-playoff team that's mainly interested in acquiring Varlamov for next year, but that kind of trade isn't exactly common at the deadline. |
