Pagnotta seems to believe that Garland is the piece most likely to be moved from VAN and they'd much prefer to hold on to Miller and Boeser. They didn't play the full clip, but he ended by mentioned that this is where they are with the Pens. Obviously Miller would be the #1 choice, but of realistic choices I'm taking Garland over Boeser.
I maintain that I'm expecting a very quiet deadline from the Pens and the off-season will be when all the shuffling takes place, but I will say if the Pens are active this deadline that it will be "go big" moves. - Rinosaur
I just want to re-sign Letang and Rust soon. Malkin won't be problem imo.
If you can trade Zucker/Kapanen and add Garland (or Boeser or Miller) and another piece, you do it. |

I hope it wasn't just a fluke, but Matheson and Marino were on another level last night. - burgh4life87
That's why I'd work hard to trade Pettersson before any other d-man we have. His upside is not the same of these two guys. |

He mentioned the Pens are in on Garland and Rakell. Love Garland's game. Rakell not so much, would have to see what the cost is. |

so if giroux is going to florida what does that deal look like?
Verhagae/lundell/marchmant + hornquist/another bottom 6 guy, plus a couple prospects? sounds like they don't have many draft picks to trade... |

Agree. Petts is a good D man, but he is only and will only ever be a defensive D man. He has decent passing ability, but no shot and lacks power down low. |

I think Rakell would be a solid get depending on the cost. He may have cooled a bit after a few solid seasons, but he's still a decent 5v5 producer and that's what the Pens are missing.
He's not my first choice. I, like Hextall, would prefer a hockey trade and bring in someone with term, but if all else fails Rakell would be a good get. |

Yohe said Aneheim wants a first above all else. If it comes down to the sweeteners ontop of the 1st we’ll get beat, but if aneheim thinks we’re the weakest team making a bid for Rackel and all they care about is getting the highest first possible then maybe we have a shot.
Obviously go get Garland if he’s truly available, I just don’t think we can afford him but you never know what player Jim Rutherford will fixate on. |

I'm still not convinced Hextall will move a first and if he does, my guess based on what he stated, is that he'd only move a 1st for a hockey trade. Obviously I have no clue, but he's so fixated on keeping the first and making hockey trades his major priority over a rental is why I'm deducing that guess.

Matheson also has the less attractive contract. I think Matheson playing well for the Pens has more value to the organization than anything he’ll bring back in a trade because his contract is so suspect. On the other hand, if Matheson is finally stepping into a second pairing role and Pets is playing third pairing minutes, it’s pretty clear cut that trading Petterson will bring back more value to us than keeping him and trying to trade a good version of Matheson instead. |

Hex left to his own devices I agree with but Yohe also said there’s a lot of voices pushing to make our first available even if it’s for a rental. I read that as Burke is cool with trading the first, and Burke is technically above Hex even though it’s being billed as a partnership of equals |

Petts did not play well last night he got pushed back for the tying goal. You could tell he was frustrated for being manhandled. He is definitely fighting it the past few games, being scratched has not helped. Hopefully, he is traded, even just for cap relief!

I hope that resonates with him, I really do. My only concern, probably similar to most, is if he does decide to use that 1st is making the wrong kind of move and getting someone very average because that's all the Pens 1st could get.
I'd personally rather the Pens bring in a big fish or do nothing at all. I've advocated for someone like Crouse, but I wouldn't want the Pens do spend a 1st on someone like that.

Lundell and Tippett likely. I bet they'd love to get Knight but I can't imagine Florida would let him go.
Interesting you bring up Hornquist... Id love it if Hornquist went to Philly and then we flipped Kap or Petterson for him with 1/2 retained. Id love him for this year and next at $2.6M. |

I honestly think Garland would be more realistic. Alvin and Rutherford probably have a player/prospect combo in mind and Ron would be more open to moving that instead of a 1st. |

Pettersson played a very solid game and made one very bad costly play.

You're going to get Boeser. He is going to light it up after the deadline and then disappear in the playoffs. |

FLA will have to move Knight at some point. While Bobs has played well, that contract basically guarantees there will be no chance Knight becomes the starter.

Yeah, that wasn't good, but the m.o. about the Pens inability to clear bodies from the crease makes the Pettersson play stand out.

Ruhwedel also shouldn’t be expected to be able to consistently shut down someone like Saad. Bottom pairing d men making near minimum get a bit more leeway in expectations. |

Honestly I’m pretty confident that won’t happen. I don’t think the supposed voices in the FO are saying trade the first in the sense that Shero or Rutherford would be totally cool with giving it away for anyone they kind of wanted. I still think everyone up there knows it has to be the right trade. And right now all of the credible reports on us are either saying that we’re looking at top 6 goal scoring talent or that we’re not looking at much of anyone because Hextall is happy with how the team is playing and knows we can’t afford a difference maker. I’m really not super worried about overpaying for a Jarncrock. |
