I can't see Hextal trading a high pick for an UFA dman. Especially when it's obvious our #1 need is a scoring forward. It's not even a discussion what they need the most. If it were JR, I'd be a little nervous hearing this rumor. He has a history of getting players that his coach won't like.

Yeah, it just doesn't make any sense especially with the emergence of Friedman. He may not be a big guy like Chiarot, but he brings the element they want. Even Burke recently said in an interview that while he'd like to see this team get bigger and more physical, he realizes it's not the DNA of this team and won't force the issue.

I guess we'l see though. If Hextall is dumb enough to make this move, then we really do know the window is over.

Pens didn't win the cup, but Hossa helped propel the Pens there.

I'd say more often than not, the huge trades for rentals doesn't translate to a cup visit. I think it's easier to think of the smaller moves teams have made. Tampa made a few minor deals before the first of their back to back.
