Vancouver is playing great hockey, one point out of a playoff spot. Why are they looking to shake things up?

From what Friedman has been saying they aren't looking to shake things up, they just wanted to get something for Boeser because he is asking for too much and they won't re-sign him.

D pairing changes again.
Dumo Letang
Matheson Marino
Pettersson Ruhwedel

The Pens were actually really good last game at 5v5 so not sure this is necessary, but if there is anytime to experiment it's now.

It's truly inexplicable why they would be looking to trade Miller and Garland. Boeser I get if they think someone will overpay for his pedigree and offensive skillset, but it kind of sounds like they're willing to sell low on him. This is literally just Rutherford being whimsical.

I didn’t think that pair would last.

I do think however that Petts being back is to showcase him.

As much as I think he would be great trade asset, I can't see Ron going into the playoffs with Friedman-Ruhwedel as a pair. Frieds is impactful, but hasn't played a lot in the NHL. It would be a gamble.

What I can see is Petts being part of a package for a scoring winger and then Ron getting a guy like Brett Kulak to play with Ruhwedel.

I agree with you, I think that's why they have been scouting Hagg on Buffalo, he's probably one they would put on that third pair if Petts is traded.

I can see hex circling back last minute for Boeser. He’s prob holding out knowing that van won’t want to lose him for nothing if they don’t qualify him. That or a completely random trade like Dustin brown.

Thanks, this I can understand. As Vic says later Miller and Granland just baffles the mind.

I know a lot of people don’t want Boeser but I really think this could be the highest end offensive player we can reasonably afford if Rutherford is deadset on dumping him for a second pairing d man he overvalues, and if that’s the case we’d be fools to not make that deal.

I wonder if a lot of the Miller, Garland, and Boeser trade talk is just media talk to amp things up before the deadline. Same with tying us to Chiarot. The few connections I have with the Pens said for the most part Hextall is very quiet on his plans.

If there is a package with Pettersson and Kap for Boeser pull the trigger right now! There are lots of options to replace Pettersson. Hell, I would make this trade even if Boeser was a rental. That cap space would help this offseason. POJ is doing well enough in the minors to expect he can fill the 3LD next season.

If JR is stuck on Marino, I don't know what the backup plan for the Pens would be? Manson off the table... Petry is a legit option but no idea what he would cost to acquire if Chiarot got a 1st and a good prospect. A Marino trade may have to wait for the offseason.

The Boeser talk is real. The Miller Garland talk was speculation. The Chiarot talk was that Kingerski clown just making crap up.

So Lehner in Vegas is reportedly out the rest of the regular season with a patella fracture (ouch). Vancouver is 1 point back of them, the Ducks are just 3 points behind them. Can't see them trading away talent when a playoff spot is right there.

I didn't see any media outlets tying the Penguins to Chariot except Kingerski and his band of clowns, and I don't consider them media.

I came into this season with incredibly low expectations and thought we might be looking at stripping things down at the trade deadline because we might be out of contention.

But these guys have showed that they have a shot. Everything outside of next years 1st should be on the table. I'm not saying jump at stupid value like Florida did with Chairot but this is not the year to preserve draft capital.

I'd love to see Fleury back. Jarry has been amazing but he has played a lot of games and the Pens cant go in without a backup who can win a series.

I sometimes like, sometimes hate Domi but I think he is a good non premium option. I think he is a Kadri like candidate where he could really take his game to another level surrounded by the right group of guys.

I think the Vancouver stuff is just smoke but if they will take Pettersson and Kap rather than Marino, Garland or Boeser would be great gets.

A few other guys I think could be in play for the Pens:

Forwards: Bertuzzi, Debrusk (could see him and Kap flipping), Lehktonen, Kessel (yes I would take a shot on him for a mid rounder).
Defence: Leddy, Gio, Savard, Petry, Soucy.
Developmental: Lilegrjin?, Zadina, Turcotte

Petry was underrated for a really long time but I think the book is finally out on him as a 1D. I don’t see how we could possibly afford him

He would definitely be expensive but I think Montreal is intent on moving him as it sounds like there are some issues there and I heard his family has already moved back to Michigan waiting on something to happen.

I could see us get a good deal on him if Hughes thinks he can convince Letang to sign in the offseason for a huge deal. Having Petry at $6.25 would make it harder to match a $9M offer for Letang.

If you throw Pettersson, Poulin and a 1st out does he bite? Not sure?
