Ottawa should tell Vegas we'll take Dadonov off your hands but you give us your second round pick this year and your first round pick next year. - Whatisavailable

Unrelated to the convo, but there's rumour of Kent Hughes having been interested in Colin White as his former player agent at the deadline. Pure speculation here, but given past habits, our predilection to sell low, and the term left on White's deal, I suspect the return might be the last year of Paul Byron's contract. I'll let you guess where Byron is from. - Bartacus
Kent Hughes is a smart fox....so he will probably fleece Dorion, unless...unless PD smarten up and exchange White for David Savard : same contrat length but at $3,50M AAV.

Not a bad player for Ottawa, but with the Hamonic acquisition it means no space for promising younger players. Already have quite a bit of money (for Ottawa) tied up on RD with Zub-Zaitsev-Hamonic lined up, plus Thomson and JBD looking to compete. I'm fairly certain Dorion would look to get another forward back. Byron is 32, from Ottawa, and has one year left at 3.4M. I wouldn't doubt this team might make that trade just for the money, though I think White is worth more. |

If I'm Ottawa I do that deal. For a first alone. If I'm Vegas I wait to see how the next 4 games goe, to see tif they have a chance and if bringing Stone back for a playoff push makes sense. - GrimmdaGoalie
When I first posted this I did it as a joke because I thought it was funny but now that I think of it it's really not a bad idea. Just buy out Dadonov this summer and roll the dice that Vegas has a Sharks kind of surprise next year and ends up a lottery team and they win the lottery. Bettman would lose his friggin mind!
Personally I like White and want to see him stay with the team but unfortunately he is in the management doghouse and will be gone. Brown is another guy they should keep but probably will be moved. Hopefully not for peanuts.
I'm steadily but surely losing faith in this team's future as a Cup contender. Middle of the road wild card spot contender seems to be the goal for so many people.
Here's my idea.
This team does not have a McDavid or a Draisaitl or a Kucherov or a Stamkos or a Barkov or a Crosby or a McKinnon and there are none of these guys coming. What they do have is a good core of second tier guys with one all star Dman in Chabot.
They're not paying guys 10 or 11 million a year so they can afford to pay really really good third line guys 3 to 4 million a year. Having guys like Paul and Brown on your third line would be awesome and deadly not to mention that veteran presence everybody talks about all the time. They are well liked players who work hard and provide guidance to the rest of the team.
Chabot is a top pair D on any team in the league but has been saddled with Zaitsev for most of his time in Ottawa. Zaitsev should be gone. Hamonic and MDZ looked OK last game but you've got to hope that Sanderson will be a step up from those guys and that Zub won't want too much in his next contract. Hopefully one or more of JBD, Thomson and Kleven develop into good Dmen.
Forsberg is an excellent backup goalie but I doubt he can give you 50+ games a year. That's where the focus should be because without the goaltending your just setting yourself up for heartbreak. Patrick Lalime should have taught Ottawa that lesson.
Hopefully they come to their senses and sign Paul this summer. Tampa thought he was good enough as a rental to give up the cheap guy who can skate around really fast so that they have a better chance to win the Cup again. I trust their judgement.
Keep feeding the system with picks because you almost never know which of them will click. Witness Batherson. Who knows what will happen with guys like Greig or Jarventie or Sogaard, etc.
Kill them with 4 lines all capable of doing damage and certainly capable of destroying any opponents third or fourth line. You won't have any of those generational players but neither will you have any of those marginal NHL players. Roll four lines non stop every game. Big, fast and mean with some top tier mitts but a lot of second tier stuff as well.
That's how I see it. |

It ain't Paul Bryon, that I can tell you, but I know of 2 deals that fell through, you can thank PD! But I'm not at will from my sources to post anything. Regardless, there's no way this would ever fly on a 1 for 1.

Give them Matt Murray for Dadonov - Ottawa Fan
Funny thing is, before Murray got hurt in AZ, Vegas had called Ottawa about something along the lines of this trade, I kid you not. Now there was more to it but it was just after they sent Lehner home with the torn labrum. Again, I cant say anything else or give other specifics from my sources, but I can comment on this as I wasn't the one instigating the posting with the aforementioned possible players in the deal.

Yeah, also need to consider if Brown gets bumped down the lineup and receives less minutes in a contract year because of an off-season RW acquisition, he won't be pleased. It would be much more likely he walks as a UFA regardless of the kind of season he has if he's stapled to the third after his production this season. We should be thinking of adding two RWs in the off IMO - one defensive minded forward with real 3rd line upside (in the mould of a younger Sean Kuraly or Oskar Sundqvist -someone you can lock into a 4-5 year sub 3M deal) to play our fourth line RW next year (making Watson or Kelly an extra forward), and, of course, Claude Giroux. This way when we trade Brown we have a perfect sub in waiting, so if we happen to be a competitive squad we don't miss a step if we trade Brown. - Bartacus
Exactly, this team needs to look long and hard at their right side this summer, full well knowing Brown will be dealt by the deadline. In fact, if Ottawa can make the right type of hockey trade, they could move Brown this summer knowing they cant sign him to an extension due to the numbers he will command.

Brown needs to be traded next trade deadline along with Watson and Hamonic and MDZ if heβs not traded by then ..ya take that 10million and put it to Stutzle Pinto Sokolov Zub Holden JBD π
In 2 yrs I wanna see this line up
Tkachuk Norris Batherson
Formenton Stutzle Giroux
Grieg Pinto Joseph
Jarventie Kastelic Sokolov
Chabot JBD
Sanderson Zub
Holden Thomson
Forsberg
Gus - sens4life1971
Overall the line up looks very solid but if Sokolov is relegated to 4th line duty then this team has failed in developing him. There's no way under any circumstance that Sokolov would be a 4th liner, in fact I could see him in the 3rd line for sure, Joseph probably wont be here in 2 years time when you look at the youth coming up the pipeline.

In 2 years Sokolov, 3rd line, but long term I would hope he establishes himself in the top 6. But I see him in the AHL for another year after talking with scouts. So in 2 years he will only have been in the NHL fulltime for a year. But down the road, I would hope he has a higher ceiling.

I don't know why the Sens waited to Sign Josh Norris to a 8 year contact. His value just goes up the more goals he scores
This guy is a 30 goal center that can easily hit 35 goals in a good year |
