For the remaining RFAs/UFAs, I think the following outcomes could happen:
Chris Tierney - Walk to UFA, use cap space to sign 3rd line forward
Dylan Gambrell - Ditto, promote from within (Kastellic)
Tyler Ennis - Walk to UFA.
Adam Gaudette - Walk to UFA.
Mathieu Joseph - Re-signed for 3 years @ 1.9M .
Alex Formenton - Re-signed 4 years $3.6M
Josh Norris - Re-signed to seven year $7.5M contract.
Colin White - Traded during the off-season.
Defense -
Victor Mete - Walk to FA.
Erik Brannstrom - Re-signed for 3 years at $2.9M
Michael Del Zotto - Traded for low level pick on day 2 of the draft (6th rounder)
Dylan Heatherington - Re-signed 1 year, 2-way contract.
Nikita Zaitsev - Traded with White
Goaltenders -
Matt Murray - Bought out
Off-season moves:
To ARI: C White, N Zaitsev, 3rd rounder 2023
To OTT: Shayne Gostisbehere
Sign: Vincent Trochek (3year @ $6M), Rickard Rakell (3 year @ 5.1) and John Klingberg (5 years @ 6.3)
Opening day lineup:
Tkachuk (8.3)-Norris (7.5)-Batherson (5.0)
Trochek (6.0)-Stutzle (0.9)-Rakell (5.1)
Brown (3.6)-Pinto (0.9)-Formenton (3.6)
Watson (1.5)-Kastellic (0.8)-Joseph (1.9)
Ex: Greig, Kelly, Sokolov
Chabot (8.0) - Zub (2.5)
Klingberg (6.3)-Gostisbehere (4.5)
Brannstrom (2.9)-Holden (1.3)
Ex: Sanderson, Thomson, JBD, Heatherington
Forsberg (2.8)
Gustavsson (0.8)
Total Cap Hit: $74.2M
Buyouts and other nonsense penalties (Murray @3.13, Phaneuf @$0.35 and Bobby Ryan @ 1.83 cap penalties and cap hits of any call ups): $5.7M
Total: $79.9M
Even just adding one of the UFA forwards makes this a much more dangerous lineup with some decent depth next year.
A fan can dream....I would pay higher ticket prices for that kind of lineup...

The
@NHL
announced today that it has invalidated Monday’s trade of Evgenii Dadonov from the
@GoldenKnights
to the
@AnaheimDucks
.
So now we sit and wait to find out the fallout from the league for both Ottawa and Vegas. What type of punishment happens to both teams as there was some lying going on from both sides. Hmmm...interesting. |
|
|
|
1. It's embarrassing for the league that they don't keep the M-NT lists
2. It's embarrassing for Vegas that they didn't know something that I can find on cap friendly
3. It's weird that Dadonov was happy to play in Ottawa, but doesn't want to go to Anahiem. Seriously? Low profile, great weather, he should be happy to go there.
If he did fill it out, Ottawa should have passed it along, if they didn't, Vegas should have said, 'Where's the NTC info' when they realized it was missing. But if Dorion straight up lied and said there wasn't one AND gets caught.....He's gone and it could cost Ottawa.
Sweet Jesus, if Ottawa loses their 1st over this, it'll be a disaster, the only upside is Dorion will be gone for sure.
what a gong show. |

There will be discipline to both teams, it's a matter of how bad it will be for Ottawa. Like you said, if Dorion lied.....which wouldn't surprise me as he lies to the fanbase at every presser, remember he told us all he would spend the 5 million on a top six forward last July when they traded Dadonov, then never did.....but man, if the league says he lied, get ready for Pierre McGuire as the GM of Ottawa. Time will tell what the outcome of the leagues investigation is, who knows what will happen. Regardless, both teams are to blame here it's just a matter to what extent each team lied. But you nailed it, what a gong show!

How in the world does the NHL not have a requirement that these lists be filed with the league? - Only_A_Ladd
This. How is it that all of this occurs behind the closed doors of a team? Are they worried about those lists getting leaked? Is this a negotiated thing that the NHLPA wanted?
If Ottawa told Vegas that Dadonov hadn't filed his 10 team list, thereby voiding it, it would have increased the player's appeal as a trade chip. I certainly hope they record these important calls because it sounds like there is nothing in writing. It's all very circumspect in an era where these things can very easily be recorded.
In the end I feel for the player. What a crap situation to be dragged into after following all the rules. Now to be considered an albatross on his own team. It's just awful. |

The 33-year-old forward, who was traded to Vegas from the Ottawa Senators last summer, holds a 10-team no-trade clause in his contract. Dreger added that the no-trade list wasn’t presented in the original trade sending Dadonov to Vegas.
https://www.tsn.ca/nhl-ev...-golden-knights-1.1775521
Correspondence emerges proving Evgenii Dadonov filed no-trade paperwork correctly
https://www.sportsnet.ca/...rade-paperwork-correctly/
Latest on Dadonov: Somehow, on trade call from Ottawa to Vegas (a team Dadonov could not block), Golden Knights and NHL were led to believe protection had expired/not filed properly. But, there is correspondence proving no-trade paperwork filed correctly (and on-time) June 30.
if all this is true, OTT is seriously (frank)ed, could lose top 5 pick.....

When the league hands down the discipline for both teams, it could be gamechanging! Remember the Coyotes lost a 1st round pick for illegally testing draft eligible players when they weren't allowed too?

To a point for Vegas, but Ottawa already wasn't a destination so if more players think Dorion is a lying you know what after all the facts come out, then how do you think some of the young guys on the Sens team will feel about this?! It's absolutely incredible to think PD got himself into this mess.

question is will they take OTT guaranteed top 5 pick this year or take OTTs 2023 picks which no one knows where it will land, was ARI pick taking during a season or before. |

The league took their 2nd round pick from the immediate draft then their 1st round pick from the following years draft. WOW! |

It appears to me there are some folks posting today that are overtly gleeful over the possibility that Dorion screwed up and as a result Ottawa might lose the 5th pick overall. Sad.

This was a quote from the article posted when AZ lost their 2 picks.
Bettman decided to use his powers to take away draft picks rather than impose a fine of $250,000 or more “given the specific circumstances of this case.” The NHL Constitution gives him the ability to deprive a team of draft picks if conduct is found to affect the competitive aspects of the game.
The league opted not to discipline any individual members of the organization involved in the situation because Bettman believes it was gross negligence rather than intentional wrongdoing |

Nobody is gleeful that Ottawa might lose their pick, dude seriously! Its the absolute opposite, like anyone on here wants Ottawa to lose their top 5 pick. Man, you truly have taken this to the next level in assuming this.
People are definitely hoping that this might mean the end to Dorion as GM though due to his negligence. That is definitely the tone on here with fans. |

I think you are merely repeating what I just said but altering (slightly) the emphasis.

Not sure why people are so shocked at Anaheim was on his list. They were the second worst team in the league at season's end. When he filed that no trade list most guys usually put the Canadian teams and everyone that drafted in the top five if applicable. No offense to the Canadian teams but a lot of guys don't want to go north. If anything I'm surprised he didn't get to make a new list where he would include do not trade me back to Ottawa. Then again most players that make 5 million a year don't get traded twice in one season |

Dadonov was happy to sign the best contract available, with Ottawa likely offering much more money than other teams. After signing with Ottawa, he perhaps did not want to go to a high tax jurisdiction or has other reasons for not wanting to go to Anaheim.
It's unfortunate for Dadonov. He has done nothing wrong and most certainly does not deserve this poop show. It's not a good situation having to play for a team that no longer wants him and having that publicly known.

Will anyone really be surprised if the Sens lose their first round pick? A better question - could anyone fathom this happening to a team other than the Sens? This might be the Sens-iest thing ever
There is nothing this team can’t screw up, lol. I’m kinda excited to see the next creative way they find to express their ineptitude as a franchise!
Go Sens!

Fortunately, Ottawa hasn't landed a meaningful UFA since Clarke MacArthur.

His deal is backloaded due to covid, he makes 6.5 million next year! Cali state taxes are some of the worst, I was told that was another reason why he had the Ducks on his list.

Remember how close Ottawa came to landing Clarkson....man they dodged a bullet on that one. But wild to think Mac was the last UFA of any substance to sign in Ottawa.

For 2 years it was such a train wreck off the ice with Melnyk and all the CEO's, CFO's, President's, etc....leaving....then it went quiet with the office stuff until now that is! It truly is pathetic what goes on with this franchise but when your owner is named Eugene Melnyk, sadly nothing surprises this fanbase anymore! |
