Scary stuff highlighted by Brannstrom at 2.9 million for 3 years. Yikes!
- Whatisavailable

I haven't seen anything about Brannstrom having been signed at 2.9 million for 3 years. Is this someone's speculation or has there been a contract signed?

People are simply saying that the small silver lining to losing a top pick is that Dorions incompetence will be removed. Everyone would rather keep the pick even if it means keeping Dorion. That has been clear across the board.

Normally I agree with your takes that the constant DJ/Dorion bashing here is beating a dead horse, but you're way off base on this one.

- CooCooKaChoo

Losing Melnyk and our first pick this year is a trade off that many fans would accept, myself included. I think Dorion was on his way out in the next 6 months even without this situation.

Delusional. Nobody wants Ottawa to lose a top five pick. Several people have repeated this to you, but you refuse to listen. Get off your high horse with this holier than thou shifting narrative to suit my ego nonsense. You have been towing Dorion's line all season, and your consistency in blaming fans for negativity when there's clear rot on this team has you now shifting your tune again. The fact is, you have the hubris to invoke God and try to frame yourself in positivity when you delight in schadenfreude, and the opportunity for pious response. You know what the rest of us don't do? Liberally poop all over one another every chance we get. If you don't like the narrative here, it's simple. Don't contribute!.. but don't use hyperbole in an effort to shame people who are concerned about this team under the auspice that you are somehow the only person who truly cares. It's misanthropic.

Clearly, we have read the commentary over the last few days very differently.

No it was just somebody posting what they think will happen. I don't think so but I felt it was a scary outlook. Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuub posted it in response to the original question in this thread.

Even IF Dorion lied during the original trade from Ottawa to Vegas.....that trade call is recorded by the league so they can verify everything that is said, and so that no important details are overlooked or left out.

-- a properly filed no trade clause, with an accompanying 10 team list IS an important detail. The third party on the phone would have voided that trade the next day after some due diligence. If they failed. Then they share some of the blame----IF Dorion lied. If Dorion simply neglected to share it - and the league recorded call confirms that - and the league third party official approved the deal??? That's on the NHL. Mickey mouse stuff.

The fact that Dadonov had a modified no trade clause on a public website ALL season, in my opinion lets PD off the hook a little regardless of deceit, or forgetfulness.

I'm sorry, I just sold you a used Hyundai. I had it safetied. The fact that there are publicly known recalls on this vehicle is your responsibility as the new owner 8 months later.

As much as this Dadonov thing could be disaster for Ottawa, I do feel there's some Karma hitting Vegas. They played the same cap games as Tampa Bay and now they're fighting for a playoff spot and can't bring back their LTIR players.

I'm not a fan of this technically legal cap circumvention nonsense and I'm happy it has blown up in Vegas' face.

I don't think the Capfreindly / other sites is relevant with the information that's come out.

Vegas was never under the impression that the NTC didn't exist. They thought the 10 team list for this season wasn't filed properly, which doesn't negate the NTC itself.

His contract has one more year, so he would still be abel to file the 10 team list for the upcoming season.

Appently Ottawa has targeted Giroux and Fiala for the offseason.

Not sure about Giroux. Fiala would be a very good fit,

I’d take Giroux over Fiala … Giroux experience and leadership being a long term captain and he lives in Ottawa would be huge impact for the kids specially Tkachuk how to handle things and situations as they go
Plus he’s an older Guy who can still put up pts 🤷‍♂️ It’s a no brainer from me lol

This team could use both of those players. The consensus seems to be that Brown ideally belongs on the third line, but he has quietly put up decent 2nd line numbers all year, which sadly means we probably say goodbye to him next deadline, so we need to start thinking about filling that hole in two years. We've certainly been lacking a healthy team and a padded middle six, IE a third line that can play as a second. We do need a top 6 centre because the team is fast but our faceoff % hurts our ability to transition quickly up ice, and Stutzle is objectively bad at faceoffs at this early stage (37.9% on the season). Giroux would be the golden boy there - he has a career 55.8% in the dot. A consistent 20+ goal scorer on this team might find his stats get boosted significantly with the playmaking ability we have in house. I'd move Stu back to the wing if he had more competent linemates (Giroux at C, and Fiala RW) on the regular.

*****To all of the readers and regulars that post in the comment section, I got an IM late last night from Gord_Wilson_2.0 that he wont be online much the next few days due to surgery that he's going in for this afternoon. I wanted to send out a shoutout to him and truly hope surgery goes well today for him! I think we have a great fanbase here on the site and when it comes to real life stuff, we all put aside our opinions etc...and I know everyone on here wishes him nothing but the best but I wanted you all to keep him in your thoughts as he goes through surgery.*****

Lets take a look at the Sens next 5 games.
@ Winnipeg
Home to Florida
@Nashville
@Detroit
Home to Detroit

The Jets are hot and lets face Ottawa is awful on the road, loss here.
Ottawa seems to get up for the top teams, maybe they steal a point at home.
They ain't winning in Nashville as they need the gimme points to stay in the playoff chase.
Detroit plays very well at home, don't see this being a win.
Ottawa gets a win at home in the home and home series with Detroit.
So maybe Ottawa gets 3 out of 10 points in the next 5 game segment.

Regardless, for a coach that said the trade deadline was weighing on his team. They sure didn't play any better than they did the last week or so. Hmm.....

Correct on losing Connor Brown next trade deadline. As for Giroux, I will take a vet that plays RW and C over Fiala who doesn't play Center at all. This team needs depth at the Center as we witnessed this year as injuries happen. Plus Fiala is making 5.1M and an RFA, we don't need another problem like Duclair when it comes to RFA status. Plus folks, he was traded out of Nashville for a reason, he's a problem off the ice. We don't need a guy like that here.

But hey as spatso keeps telling us, this is a fun to watch. Far from it, they cant score and last game he's telling us what a great game it was to watch. Like are you watching the Sens from 2017, because last game was easily one of the worst most boring games of the year. Ah to wear rose coloured glasses!

Even in the game Ottawa won, they scored 2 goals on a goalie lol, plus the empty netter. Shutout last game, they scored one goal in each of the Jackets and Habs games. So 4 goals on a goalie in the last 5 games. Now they get Hellebuyck tonight. Oh it'll be fun on the postgame show. But maybe many will be in bed by the time they start taking calls or many will be watching the Men's soccer game with Canada.

I had posted who to keep, etc..for next year and a poster suggested giving him that contract. So no, Brannstrom is an RFA and they will just qualify him this summer.

Wondering if we'll get a statement from the Sens at some point.

Both Vegas and Anaaheim have given one, but they were the nes involved in the trade

- david22

This management group isn't accountable a single bit nor do they like talking to the media ever, so expect nothing from them in typical PD style.

With Chabot out, it's considerably less "fun" to watch.

For all the Chabot haters it certainly has shown his worth to the team!
