Tired narratives. Hextall did fine drafting defenseman.
In every draft, the GM's make the final call. Some think the GM's job is to just listen to the scouts. - MJL
He drafted 10 dman. 2 are NHL regulars. If fine equals average, I agree 100%.

You come across as an angry Richard. So this is my last response to you. Putting all that on Hextall is BS. First, Morin, was a reach by Holmgren not Hextall. Hagg was a Holmgren pick as well and was never thought of as more than a 3rd pairing defensemen. Ghost was a Holmgren pick and is quite a serviceable NHL defensemen.
Provy has proven how good he can be, his issue has been the last couple of years.... I blame Hextall on him because Hextall always preached patience but threw Provy out there to be a #1 defensemen without having a solid veteran to lean on and help him grow.
Myers was undrafted, showed potential but hasn't lived up to it.
Flyers will regret when they trade Sanheim. - FlyerFan16
While the crew listed here reflect both Homer and Hexy, the sad part is I was talking to someone the other day and we were reminiscing about how "stacked and deep" our Defense was going to be for years. Disappointing on so many levels.

Did you hear him talk when he was interviewed at an intermission recently? "Sanheim has to earn the PP time." - MJL
I did. Same game York was on the PP, I believe. So he earned it |

It would've been a stacked defense if handled by a competent management.

Same here. There are so many levels of disappointment with this team right now. I think they'll be considerably better next year, but that doesn't mean much considering how awful they are this year.
I also said that last year , so who knows! |

I'm not a medical doctor, although I do play one on TV. This non-surgical approach with Ellis gives me the vibes that it isn't going to work out. I mean, if you've missed all but 4 games and you're still not healed or close to coming back, surgery might be best.
I can see 3 weeks before training camp the Flyers announce that all options have been exhausted and Ellis will need surgery. He'll be out 2-4 months. - hockeylover
I hear you on this. I'm not buying the 30 year old vs 20 year old having surgery nonsense. There has to be more to the story.

This is completely archaic thinking. The Flyers completely suck at developing young players because they share similar beliefs of how to do it. They drive players alright. Right into the same bucket of crap that the entire organization is in. - MJL
Its not archaic. This isnt a childrens league. There are no participation trophies and players are not playing for fun. If you show you can play the right way at a lower level you will be given the opportunity do it at a higher level. These are grown men. Promotions are earned. Its the NHL. NHL players are rostered because they earned the right to be there. You dont just push players into the deep end of the pool and say learn to swim

that can also be interpreted as I don't watch him play and just giving a standard answer no? - hello it's me 2050
It would appear so because I think he has earned PP time

Lol it's both comical and depressing. We were stockpiling all of these studs defenders and now look where we are

You just doubled down on the archaic thinking. Also obviously not following along correctly. Where you've gone wrong is not recognizing the difference between opportunity and promotion. Also talking more about how a young player is used rather than making a roster. Not talking about gifting a player who is not an NHL caliber talent a NHL roster spot. How you took it to mean that is misguided. |

Yep, said the same thing last year and really did think we'd improve this year based on the changes. Not sure why I stick with them but I do. One of these years!

The scariest part about tonight? I have much more interest in the Habs/Panthers game than the Flyers game. Are you listening Flyers management? |

Problem with this article is that its from 2018. Looking back at Fletchers Draft history and seeing where the players are now, shows Spotty drafting wasnt actually a valid reason. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Really? Their draft record still looks spotty as hell outside of Kaprisov, who lets be honest, was a (frank)ing once in a franchise stroke of luck, and Fletch couldn't ever sell the guy to cross the pond anyway. |

Even I thought if Hart started most of the games and maintained a league average SV% or above, that they'd make the POs just from that alone. Yikes, didn't expect them to be this toothless. |

Can't remember who, but someone who follows the flyers tweeted a picture of Clarke and Fletcher talking in the suit during the last game or two. My perception, and I don't have facts, was that he was semi-retired until they fired Hextall and he's been around more frequently now. - rayc16
Jansen worded it as if he’s away from it now. Clarke in town for Gs 1000th. Would love to see if Bill could confirm how often Clarke is around. |
