Agreed, which is why a 2 year stop gap partner at whatever the contract cost makes sense.

Put him in a position to succeed, not fail.

Caveat that I understand this would be asking a ton from Samuelsson and won't happen, but call this the towers of power defense ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚

Dahlin - Samuelsson
Zadorov - Gudbranson
Power - Schenn

Are you really concerned about that?

Yes, I think players play differently when someone has there back. Is it a must No, but giving him the piece of mind just to play his game could go a long way in his development

I think we all love home grown talent and I will have a Samuelsson jersey soon, so the fact he plays the same side as our 2-#1s, I would love to see him work towards playing the right.

We seem to be forgetting about Johnson here, kids gonna play a roll somewhere. He's turning into a very good all around Dman

LOL! I am kinda hoping we can stash him in the A for a bit. Unless he just makes it impossible. Still, we hafta have a veteran presence. I heard Tuch say he had been in the league a year or so and then saw how MAF acted as a teammate (went to rookie camp, etc). that is what we need more than anythingโ€ฆa big reason why Eakin wasnโ€™t just given away IMO.

I agree, it will be atleast a year for Johnson. But out of anyone I think he could make the switch to RD more fluidly. Played there a lot this year for Minnesota because of injuries on there back end.

Only 3 spots on the left side,
and 2 of them are spoken for with Dahlin & Power

That only leaves 1 spot on the left between
Samuelsson, Bryson & Johnson

Maybe one of them can switch to the right side?
Or one of them can/should be used as trade bait

To add on, I think a lot of these projections can only be thrown out using another player as a suitable example. I am sold on Certain players (Fiala, Gibson) but all the names that have been tossed out can or should pull 17-20 minutes a night on RD and Samuelsson still needs to play

Think Bryson has already proven he can play the right side. All 3 have played it this year, it's just who's more comfortable staying there.

I've seen a lot of people penciling in Johnson to our top 6 even though he hasn't played 1 shift orf pro hockey yet. I will also say that I haven't watched a minute of his college career or looked at his stats. Are we sure he's making the jump to the NHL right away?

I donโ€™t think heโ€™s making the team next season
It would be surprising

Even if Bryson moves to the right,
that still only leaves the LD3 spot for either Samuelsson or Johnson
And while Johnson is a good looking prospect,
Samuelsson is already proving himself with us

Well until we actually acquire a couple RD it's a good thing to have all 3 as possibilities if need be.

Sure
Seems to me like Johnson could be a trade chip though
