It’s definitely in his favor to sign an extension now, the Sabres will want to wait IMO:

I don't agree at all with the bold.

Curious why you think that.

tough call

basing a contract on 61 games

injury issues on previous years

I don't think you pay him based on a first liner but I think 5 years at 5.5 to 6 per may be the way to go

Tage was always a fantastic skater - I don't think that changed. Meatballs just found the right place for him (which is still amazing that it was at center).

The trade was a win for St. Louis when they won the cup. My fear with ROR was that his mediocre skating and rugged style of play would catch up with him later in the contract. That might already be happening.

It could still be a win on our side if Tage continues on this trajectory.

What do you mean by already when he only has one season left on his current contract?

I seriously doubt Tage takes less than $7M per on a long term deal, if not a decent bit more.

Young players and their agents don't bet on themselves to fail. They bet on themselves to succeed.

Okposo- girgensons- vinnie

That's an nhl 4th line on a playoff team IMO.

skimmer - tage machine - tuch
Mitts cozens olo
Krebs quinn peterka
Okposo- girgensons- vinnie

13th - asplund

- Boss34

I like the idea of a 4th line of Girgensons - Jankowski - Okposo for next season, with Asplund filling in when needed, as I think Jankowski really fits that line and role very well, and he'll be cheap.

I'd look to move on from Vinnie and try and upgrade at forward, but I also would've traded him at the deadline too.

Can’t sign an extension “now”
Gotta wait till the summer, when the next NHL season officially starts

He'll happily bet on himself if the Sabres ask him to do it again next season, but if Tage duplicates this season, or improves upon it, next season, the number won't start with a 7, it'll begin with an 8 or 9.

I found where Boss gets his info 😅😂

Theory on Girgensons seems to be coming to fruition:

Sabres xGA/60 in three stretches:

10/14-1/25: 2.47 (15th)

1/26-3/16 (no Girgensons): 2.85 (29th)

3/17-3/25: 2.37 (10th)

he should be second line next season so it would be tough to duplicate those numbers IMO

at least the goal total

with his injury history, he would be smart to take a little less and cash in now

Should he? Even if you think that, it's likely he'll be the top line Center again next season.

DeBoer says there was a setback with Max Pacioretty and he is not available in the near future.

We agree but I'm guessing we both agree that the Peggy Bank won't be available for that kind of move.

Nice Read Hank!! That's tough with Tage, and would be totally something different for the Organization to get ahead of it. That would show some internal growth in the FO.
