The infrastructure upgrades are needed regardless of the Stadium.
direct Public transit is a desperately needed thing this city sorely lacks.
This city has a distinct Advantage of massive waterfront that it fails to do anything with because "green space and Birds might die"
But hey the cool slogan of "Lets keep Buffalo a secret" is great. - ImThatGuy

I thought there were two prevailing rumors/theories:
1. A possibility for a buy-in for minority ownership
2. Kim wants to sell the team but Terry doesn't want to.
Neither of those were dispelled by that.

The Pegulas can own 100% of the team and Kim also doesn't need to be president. Which is whatever.

Tyrek hill to miami - destination because the dolphins are good, nothing to do with tax breaks , nightlife or beaches
I strongly disagree.
Tampa provides a winning hockey team, players also like that benefit. - Boss34
Tyreek Hill went to Miami for 2 reasons:
1) They were willing to pay
2) They aren't the Jets
Nobody else fit those requirements |

They may have laughed but that doesn't mean that it could not be true. Russel Wilson also wasn't going to be traded - people have good reason to lie in those spots.

The improved infrastructure is gonna need to be done anyways
And the $$$ generated by a downtown stadium would be much higher than OP
An OP stadium get us the WORSE return on investment - jdfitz77
From what I read the infrastructure for a stadium is very different than what you're thinking of.
It's been proven over and over again that new stadiums are not economic engines and they certainly do not pay for themselves. In that sense a downtown stadium would easily have the worse ROI. This is a building that will sit empty for 350 days out of the year - spending billions to build it downtown won't change that. We should absolutely be taking the easy route here.
The other thing about building downtown is that - last I read - hundreds of houses, businesses, etc would not be razed. That is a long and expensive process (not to mention unfair to the people that live there).

Trust me, in the long run, you want some of the richest owners in hockey, especially when gas is over $100 a barrel.
The Peguals are by far and away the best chance for a new Sabre arena and a well funded team. |

Or simply copy and paste the Pegula's introductory meeting. They must be out drilling wells as we speak.

I know we joke about them, but I do believe that if the Pegulas are sincere about one thing, it's that they want to keep both teams here. If word gets out that the Sabres are for sale, there will be bidders from all over the place, which might not bode well for them staying here, especially given the state that the arena is in.

Well said, and I completely agree. Also, if they admitted that they were for sale it would be even harder to attract free agents or to get people to sign here. People want to go to stable situations.

Steve yzerman's shadow disagrees......
Didnt see anything about winning, which was your original post.
And :
Was your shadow or yzerman's shadow privy to some kind of trade conversations?
My guess, 1/2 the teams kicked tires. Not just the dolphins and jets.
I'm good 🤝 |

I didn’t say it would “pay for itself”
But it is a FACT that a downtown stadium would generate more revenue than an OP stadium
