See how this goes, might be giving up my seasons, or hopefully my Son takes them. Gonna cost some Cheddar for 4 seats. - Buff36
Glad I only pay for one. Can't imagine four. |

Interesting, even though the taxpayers percentage is 60%, it's actually lower than the original agreement which was 73%. - Buff36
Except those are bullpoop numbers, because taxpayers are on the hook for ongoing maintenance, which they estimate will push the taxpayer contribution to over $1 billion.
When you factor in naming rights, personal seat licenses and $200 million from the NFL, the Pegulas will be paying almost nothing out of pocket.
I don't know why I don't own an NFL team - it's a pretty good scam.

I'm assuming there will be personal seat licenses.
It'll be interesting to see how they break that down. I don't think they can get too greedy on this revenue stream, but they certainly can try. - Atomic Wedgie
I think it's gonna be a 1,000 a seat |

The NHL relocation and expansion fees are getting up there in price, though. In a revenue sharing world, there's a small chance the other owners could get MLSE to budge. - buffalofan19
If the NHL decides on expansion again,
another team in Southern Ontario makes a lot of sense
Yeah, Toronto & Buffalo will b!tch about it
But the other 30 owners should just tell them to stfu- it’s what’s best for the league financially |

Someone really said NYC can host 3 hockey teams why not Toronto DURR HURR
NYC is literally 3 times the size of Toronto… hence 3 teams. - BeadyEyedDouche
And Toronto has 6xs as many ppl as WNY
So by your reasoning, they could support 6 teams then, right?? |

There was a lawsuit related to the Coyotes (maybe Balsillie? Maybe just one of the bankruptcies?) where the NHL was forced to divulge their laws.
It showed that franchises do indeed have territorial rights.
So 30 owners can say whatever they want, but the franchise agreements are legally binding, and you really think New York and Chicago and Philly want to support the breaking of territorial rights? |

I'll probably get banned for this...the islanders and rangers have a higher attendance record than the maple leafs now, even Vancouver is higher. New jersey is still in the bottom of the league. |

Other than the 200m they have to throw in to get the G4 loan, but they gave 350m so they have 25yrs to pay it back. But that comes out of ticket revenue so the Pegula's will never miss it. |

Oh boy.
Let me put it to you one more time:
YES: Toronto could support more than one NHL team.
NO: it will never happen, because MLSE currently holds territorial rights, and allowing another team in their protected area would mean less revenues for MLSE. - Atomic Wedgie
You didn't even put it for me one time. But yes, genius, that's literally how sports works. Thanks for the lesson. What would we do without the smartest sports fans in the world posting in our blog?

I’m sure the 30 other owners could vote to change those territorial rights
I don’t think any of those other cities u mention would be in danger of getting an additional team,
do you?
After S.Ontario, I’d think Kansas City & Houston would be obvious markets to hit up next |

Also true
My expectation for next years attendance is if this team finishes strong, with Power, Quinn and more on the way it will be back to normal numbers.
I dont think we will be seeing full sell outs but the fans will come back

The #Bills will match the RFA offer sheet for OT Ryan Bates, per GM Brandon Beane. It’s a 4-year deal for Bates. |

What if it doesn't work? Not saying I want or expect it to at this point, but if they have to rebuild again after this what happens?
Now they have a 1 1/2 year plan that fans have started to accept, but they are still hesitant to show up in person. If they fail again what happens?

Then it is up to the Sabres Marketing Team (if they even have one left at this point) to make it so people want to come to games.
The Orlando Magic down here come to mind, with a young team they were around 93% full. Gotta find a way to get people in the seats.
The border being open should help for next year as at the start of the year it wasn't so a lot of the season ticket holders from Ontario didn't renew their tickets for this season with a lot of the unknown.
