A lot.
Believe me, every guy in Toronto has had this discussion with his buddies while having a few beers.
Having done "extensive research" on this subject area myself, here's the general conclusion of what would happen should Toronto get a 2nd team:
When it was first announced, everyone would go out and buy something.
There would be a rush to buy season tickets, as everyone would assume that like the Leafs, demand would exceed supply, and you could sell them. So the team would instantly have a sold-out season.
And then you would watch the games. Maybe not with as much enthusiasm as the Leafs (assume the new team would suck for a few years), but the team would probably schedule the vast majority of their games in the first few years to not go up against the Leafs.
Once it becomes a habit, you start taking some of the money you normally spend on the Leafs, and put it towards the new team.
It may not ever become a 50/50 split in support, but MLSE knows that it 33/66 would be the absolute floor for fan support.
That's why they will never allow it. - Atomic Wedgie
Excellent post and insightful
The jersey/garb revenue immediately would be a $ jackpot |

See how this goes, might be giving up my seasons, or hopefully my Son takes them. Gonna cost some Cheddar for 4 seats. - Buff36
This is exactly why long time season ticket holders should get some discount.
A one point a few seasons ago, the Sabres were still giving original season ticket holders a discount.
According to one of my seat neighbors.
1 Bill's ticket is the way to go. Get each guy there own seat in their own name. Or split in pairs at least.

Yeah see where this goes, think it might come down to Keeping 2 seats. Gotta see what plans they are gonna set up. There's people there that have had season 's since they started them. But that's a few years away. |

Each seat will require its own PSL, which is a one-time fee. As long as your seat partners are good with that, it's probably the smartest way to go.

Since it was mentioned earlier, I looked at the costs of new hockey arenas lately, namely Pittsburgh and Detroit.
Pittsburgh's was $321 million.
Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit was upwards of $863 million.
I am wondering if this deal with the state being lower than believed means that state will pick up a bigger % tab of a new hockey arena should it be agreed upon. |

Maybe, maybe not.
For the Leafs, lower bowl was required to buy a PSL.
Upper bowl was given the option.
I could see the Bills doing something similar. |

Less money we have to pay, and most teams didn't get as much funding |

Good god. Tried giving Schoop and the Bulldog a listen. They spend ten minutes breaking down a photo of NFL coaches?! WTF? They're just plain awful. Back on banned list.
WGR could be so much better. An out and terrible afternoon drive show. |

No, no. It was said in the presser by PSE. Every season ticket will have some PSL. They said they would not price out the market but all seasons, not some. |

It is. I’ve come to appreciate them more
But I also don’t care about their personal lives let alone want to listen to 7-10 minute stories about them. Sorry |

No, that stuff doesn't always work. I think they kind of do that stuff earlier in the show.

Levi in the transfer portal? I wonder if he is just keeping his options back. If not he must be wanting to go for it in a real program. Either way, that's fine - he doesn't need to be here next year. |

Still makes you think he is staying at least one more year, unless the back-up is like I can't do what he did this year I am out!

I guess it depends on how everything is defined. My favorite baseball team got almost 1.3 billion in tax breaks and infrastructure upgrades. And by infrastructure upgrades meaning spurs directly connected to yankee stadium that serve no other purpose. |

Adams now has to go back to Kim to request an offer increase to get Levi to sign this year.
