Rochester is in trouble, they could use some Dman or they could fall right out of the playoff race.

Hoping there's 10 in Buffalo next week. That should free up a move or two.

Probably not going to be popular, but if you sign Johnson and Power, send down Samuelsson and Fitzgerald for their playoff push. Hard to force them all into the lineup anyways.

isn't that area about the only viable option population wise for Canada to get another team? Milwaukee might be an option in the USA? i can't see them doing another southern team with the continued failures they had in Atlanta and how Arizona is going.. And lets be honest if Florida wasn't winning they would be at the bottom of the league for attendance again

Sure give them a taste of hopefully winning it. Be like Miller, Roy, Poms and so forth.

Doesn’t mean attendance is growing
Phoenix has been growing for a long time,
yet attendance there almost always blows

Same with Miami/S.Florida

And attendance was the metric that YOU brought up dude
Take the L
Sabres aren’t moving

- jdfitz77

Look it up,
AZ's attendance is due to arena location. Hence why a new one will be built that isnt an hour away on a good day/evening.
Bettman is right...build new markets in locations where the Northerns are moving to.
There is a large contingent of Buffalonians in the greater Sarasota area here...but Too close to Tampa so that won't happen.

You are 100% correct. My buddy lived in Phoenix for 3 years and said that. The coyotes location is a major issue. Driving 45 minutes just for a hockey game is the issue with traffic

Yeah Luneau is the 3yr part. Samuelsson gives you the opportunity to still bring Power along slowly even with the big club, playing 3rd pair minutes learning from a cagy vet for 2yrs.

Careful attendance is considered a laughable metric, if you continue you might be banned

The Yotes were in the bottom teams for attendance when their arena was downtown as well

They moved to that arena in ‘03
Feel free to see where they ranked in attendance before that right here:

They were in the bottom5 consistently

The new Bills Stadium having only 60,000 seats is actually the right move in a post-pandemic world. And a few people mentioned the lack of interest in going to live events in the age of streaming and HD.

Also, America are a bunch of lazy fat pigs. Half the Bills attendees can't even fit in the God damn seats.

It's the right capacity.

Will the seats be bigger?

The Greater Golden Horseshoe (think Greater Greater Toronto Area) could probably support three teams.

But alas, the Leafs would never allow it - which would never make sense to them from an economic standpoint.

One caveat: there's now a theory out there that you could see MLSE split - the team is currently owned by two competing media companies (Bell and Rogers). So they agree that one company keeps the Leafs, one company gets a new franchise in Toronto. It's not the wackiest idea I've ever heard - hell, the wackiest idea I've ever heard is that two rival media companies would team up to buy the Leafs.

As for the Panthers, based upon my one visit there over 10 years ago, I'd say the number one problem of that franchise is their arena location.

- Atomic Wedgie

The arena is out on the edge of the Everglades, but it’s rather centrally located for people coming down from palm beach and northward, from Miami to the south, and even people coming across alligator alley from ft Myers. The main problem the Panthers have always had is being a suck ass joke of an organization that no one felt was worth the drive (or the money spent) to go see.... Much like Buffalo fans this year pretty much saying, (frank) it, I’m not wasting my money on this crap.
Eventually I think they will build a new hockey arena in Ft Lauderdale. Their new training facility is being built there, relocating it from the western ‘burbs, an arena somewhere near there will be their next goal.

And the NHL will not want to lose Buffalo as a market, they’d be foolish to even consider abandoning such a hockey crazed area.

That was sarcasm, hence the emoticon.

Someone really said NYC can host 3 hockey teams why not Toronto DURR HURR

NYC is literally 3 times the size of Toronto… hence 3 teams.

- BeadyEyedDouche

If Buffalo can support 1 team (in normal time) ...then Toronto could support 4, 5 or 6? Depending g on the population metric used

Tough to say if Luneau will be ready by then or not
This is year 3 for Ryan Johnson for example,
and he’s not even played in Rochester yet
