It is pretty confusing in that it has been serious enough to keep him out all year, but not serious enough to need surgery?

Usually season ending injuries don't just heal themselves.

But thats not whats happening, hes getting treatment. That leads me to believe its a muscle related, likely the back. There a bunch of non surgical approaches for such an injury

Yes, but how often is treatment successful for an injury that keeps you out an entire year? I think the result pretty much says it hasn't been successful even a little bit. Treatment is still in the end helping the body to heal itself. Its not getting cut or removed or repaired artificially.

Chuck and Clarke are really close. Clarke got Chuck the job. You can bet he ain't shy about giving Chuck (or even Scott) a nudge or two on the overarching team direction and what it means to play "Flyers hockey" and all that.

Nobody is saying he's meddling in the day to day.

That influence and the standard set by which the Flyers must operate in order to be acceptable to the hierarchy behind the scenes is far more influential than being involved in the day to day operations.

Doug Wilson to step down as GM in SJ. That GM is going to have their work cut out for them. Their prospect pool sucks.

I want to bookmark this post and come back in 5 years tho when the Sharks have rebuilt and the Flyers at best continue to tread water.

Id say its common. Physiotherapy and Athletic therapy have done wonders for me.

Please don't compare repairing a professional athlete to play a sport again at a high level with helping a non professional athlete. It's silly.

No, I don't think people have said that Clarke is heavily involved. Heavily involved would include being around the team on a daily basis. There is no doubt that Clarke is in the ear of the GM and that the GM takes counsel from him. Clarke doesn't have to be in Philly for that to happen.

I hope, if he isn't traded, that Konecny learns how to shoot the puck again.

Sorry I forgot athletes are immune to such injuries, not like Athletic therapists work with Olympic athletes......

You missed the point badly. That point is that helping a non professional athlete get better to live every day life is quite different from helping a professional athlete get healthy enough to play a sport at a high level in the NHL. To withstand the grind and physical demands of an NHL 82 game season and beyond.

And nowhere did I say that my injury was comparable, I never even discussed the specifics. All I said was it did wonders for me. Has nothing to do with Ellis' experience with Athletic therapy.

All it means is it is a possible treatment he is going through for what ever ails him. It is also the most likely treatment for something you are trying to avoid surgery for.

The situation of a non professional athlete is simply not comparable. I agree with MB. That he has been out this long and hasn't had surgery. Seems to suggest that they don't think that surgery is the best course of action to take. Obviously the other method of treatment hasn't been successful. Meaning it's a possibility that this could be a long term thing and surgery would be a last hope.

Again I never compared it.... My injury wasnt even sports related. It was just chronic muscle pain for over use of specific muscles.
