Another day old post. Can we boot up the Buzztron and see the projected standings? Like maybe NYI still sneaks into the playoffs. Or stuff like Vegas winning 10 of their remaining 8 games to win the division while the Flames suddenly lose 9 in a row. Those were insightful posts.
I'm just giddy that Super Joe signed Ben Meyers who giant tool Mike Russo has called the best college free agent since Torey Krug in 2012 and the equivalent of a late 1st rounder. According to an article Russo published in the Athletic a couple days ago, Meyers was interviewing with 2 dozen teams including his home state Wild who sent 5 members of management including Guerin to the Frozen Four to schmooze him. Joe Salic kicks ass again! Who needs the GM of the Year trophy?

Russo was gushing about Meyers until last night. Now he’s moved on to Hartman after he flipped off Evander last night. Neither the Wild nor the Avs can win a faceoff so the Avs can use him on the 4th line taking advantage of his 57%. Maybe Meyers has middle 6 potential but he’ll be 24 later this year.

You're right and I'm not under any illusions about his ceiling but I didn't think the Avs had a chance in hell of signing him. They signed Kerfoot (who was drafted by NJ) out of Harvard and got a middle sixer out of him but that was a completely different Avs team coming off a 48 point season and college UFA's thought there was playing opportunity in that situation.

Guerin doesn’t let out much about what’s going on in his head. Maybe that is a mentoring element from Sakic. I think the Wild wanted to sign Meyers but maybe not so much. Russo saying they sent out 5 guys to see him and schmooze is laughable speculation. They’ve been watching him for years. I like Meyers and hope he has success.
