One thing to keep in mind Ryan is that what Sullivan says publicly and what he says privately to the league are two different things. For a variety of reasons coaches usually do not call out the league and its bad decisions/bad officiating/etc. to the media. However, considering how he goes off on refs in many cases it is likely that he did the same, privately, to the league.
I often wonder, if the Pens still had a Matt Cooke-type player on their team and he did that to Fox or Lafraniere and concussed them, would he have been called on the ice? Would he have received supplemental discipline? - PghPens668771
Affirming this comment...
DK in his "insider" column that Sullivan/Pens absolutely let the NHL know what they thought about the hit. He also doesn't believe there's any benefit to airing those thoughts publicly.
A couple other tidbits...
Sid looked fine walking to the bus after the game. Nothing out of the ordinary. (Not that this means anything)
Pens are still dealing with a non-covid illness in the room.
Jarry will play this weekend if necessary. (Let's hope it's not) |

I’m angry that the Rangers did this and it was completely unnecessary. I’m also frustrated in the bush league and spineless NHL that fails to protect the players. Lastly I am not upset at Sully. Stay calm and carry on. Because the series is on the line. In the locker room I’m certain the truth was spoken. I am hoping for poetic justice and a Pens victory. The payback to Trouba needs to wait till next year.
However, if opportunity presents itself for a solid hit, do so with intention and take that opportunity to the bank! Light them up! - powerhouse Neanderthal in me surfacing, but I am somewhat upset with Sully. He was given multiple guys for situations like this...Reaves, Gudbranson, Oleksiak, and for whatever reason he wanted no part of them. Not like they sucked either, all still have full time jobs on other teams. I'm not saying waste a spot on a goon, but ffs our toughest player this season is in Chicago, and he was a joke.
Also not saying any of them would have stopped that hit, but Trouba would have had to answer, and spent 5 in the box and maybe he decides he'd rather keep the elbows down and stay on the ice.

Nah. Someone needs to just have a straight up f hockey fight right away with Trouba. That way if the pens go down 1-0 it doesn’t turn into a scrum fest which is where the pens get sucked into penalties. - Grinder47
Any idea why nobody did it when it happened ? Soft come to mind ?

Why the (frank) the coach persists in having Malkin anywhere near the top of the PP or LW wall makes no (frank)ing sense. Put him on the right wing halfway and rip one timers. It’s not difficult. |

Who just got hurt?... I was walking back towards where the tv was and I heard the announcers say someone had left Pens bench and walking down hallways toward dressing room. |

I was literally thinking the same exact thing. That's where he was most effective when they used to put him there.
