Oh look, imagine that. They can call a penalty in overtime during the Ranger game. - bobbyisno1
Should have been a penalty shot. |

Calling them chickens is talking about character. They built one of the 5 or so best teams that played and lost to another of the 5 or so best teams in a close series. Oh well. Honestly, how many other first round teams do you think they would have beaten if the pairings had been different. I don’t buy that they failed to build a team capable of winning a round. They didn’t win this round. That sucks.
So everybody can call for the changes they always wanted - get rid of Nylander or Marner or Dubas or Carleton or keep everything exactly the same if you’re inclined that way.
Fact I’d, they improved the team considerably from last year. I hope they make more improvements for next year - Canada Cup
the TEAM chickens out.
One of the 5 best regular season teams.
Believe what you want, it’s written in the history books.
Move an asset of strength, to get an asset you lack.
Nope, exact same result.
We used to be on good terms. Idk what went wrong, but the new you doesn’t have the same charm. |

Both top lines need a big body and they can't have 3 little wimps on the power play that can't battle for the puck. |

Matthews Marner and Willy outperformed their counterparts and Campbell had better numbers than his nemesis. But Tampa got goals from a surprising source in game 7 and the leafs didn’t. We got nothing from our bottom 6. I thought Reilly was better than hedman who finished minus 2 in the series.
Steve Simmons actually had a decent take in the Sun today. |

Nothings wrong from my perspective. I never had a lot of charm but wouldn’t mind sticking up for you. I just think a lot of your hockey takes are very wrong. But that’s kind of what we do here. Not in the mood for a vigorous debate now anyway |

Well, every year I advocate for a certain type of change, and every year they go the opposite route and lose in the first round.

But you’re so caught up in the Nylander hatred that you’re blind to any other choice. Willy was good in the playoffs for the second straight year. |

He was fine. Except for the awful embarrassing plays.
You’re so caught up in your hatred for me that you continue to mischaracterize everything I say.

I think we need a big name trade. Willy wouldn’t get us a big enough return so I’d move Marner. Get a stud d back and clear up some cap space. |

Good to know.
If they can get a top pairing defensive defenceman without moving Nylander, then great, do it.
But I won’t lose any sleep if it is Willy to go. He’s not my type of guy. Dodging checks and simply giving up on plays is infuriating to me. |

This flawed team 'didn't get it done' narrative is mostly a day after cuff reaction from the teams own self trolls trying to have their told you so moment. Because how does that narrative hold up if Tampa walks their way to a third cup in a row. Still a flawed leafs team? Still need new management? Because at that point, they just lost by a (frank)ing hair to this generations first and only dynasty.
Can the self trolls say a scorched earth is needed to stroke their own ego and have it hold weight at that point? Probably not. |

I said it before too. Before the series began, even in other match ups, there would be a real quality team going home. Leafs were that team. Minnesota was that team and one of Dallas or Calgary is going home tonight too, and both are quality.

I don’t think Willy gets us a top pairing d. I know what Willy is, most of us sing his praises just to mess with his haters.
But he got 80 points on a 6.9mil cap hit. And even with all his warts he produces in the playoffs. |

The only change that should be made is to get someone that complements JT well. We are stuck with him, so a resurrection of sorts is the only way everyone benefits. Maybe this means trading Nylander for someone with fewer goals on average but better play defensively. You shouldn't pay hockey if you cannot throw a check when the opportunity arises.
Leafs played well (mostly) and Tampa played well (mostly). It was a great series. It was close. If you take this out of the historical context of the past playoff series losses, it was simply that, a great series.
The referees were not as bad as some like to think. Tons of Leafs fans, and many on here, are so quick to look for someone else to blame when things don't go how they'd like. It's a pathetic knee-jerk reaction that should be weeded out before adulthood. Grow up. - sokosteve
When the series started to get real, the Leafs couldn’t stay with them. Tampa won 3 of the last 4 games.

Oh come on.
Series was tied 3-3 after 6 games and game 7 was decided by 1 goal in a tight 2-1 game.

Trade
Bunting (while his value is high) he will not get any better than this year.
Holl (We have too many D in that 5-8 range)
Kerfoot (if you get a decent return)
Blackwell and Simmonds (They dont add anything..I dont hate them)
Mrazek ( They were fine with the young kid and grab a cheap backup at the deadline)
Nylander for another point producer that is more of a power forward type.

I would agree there man for sure. They played well for sure just didn’t capitalize when the opportunity was there a few key times.
Some ‘harder’ players to play against would absolutely go a long way |
