Maybe the first bold move is moving on from Holl. |

Ek says the Leafs are still getting better. So cut them some slack. |

I floated the idea of trading Nylander for Hellebuyck yesterday. I'm a Sabres fan, so it's not like I'm too upset about you guys losing last night, but after the season Matthews and Marner just had, I expected a deep run.
Tampa Bay is that good, though. You guys drew a really bad hand in the 1st round... Your coach is only 41 years old. I'm not sure now is the time for a coaching change. Three of the years you guys lost in the 1st round you were coached by a Neanderthal coach named Mike Babcock.

Here’s the thing, with this current group Keefe. The wrong “style” coach. Someone in ek’s post hit the mail on the head. They need a more defensive minded coach for this team. Offense will come naturally with the talent up front, but with the lackluster defense they need a more defensive structured system. I’m not saying Keefe is a bad coach. He’s not. But the way this team is built he’s the wrong coach. One coach that comes to mind is Trotz. Perfect scheme fit for the way Toronto is built right now. I think that would be the bold move that would work for this team but I doubt they don’t have the cahones to pull that bold of a move. |

Holy Mackinaw the Leafs tanked to draft Matthews to get zero playoff series wins. Couldn't happen to a more deserving fan base. Is that Karma or what. |

Is it consistent to, in the same thought, blame Mike Babcock for past Leaf failures yet desire Barry Trotz as the next coach? |

The main difference to me is that Bolts have exceptional players at every level... Vasy / Hedman / Pt & Kuch up front..
Leafs have exceptional players 34 / 16 up front...
Also bottom 6 scoring came through for bolts and not so much Leafers..
Its a fine line but.. it was enough to send the boys home.. Sucky way to end a terrific year. |

The core 4 aren't going anywhere... I doubt there's any change in the office... the rest is tweaks...

Our stars outplayed their stars. But their supporting cast was a little better. The officiating was a factor in the last 2 games unfortunately.
I agree with you on small changes, we have to remember that Tampa might beat every team that they play again this year. |

I hate blaming the refs... the Leafs should have been in a position where sketchy calls wouldn't matter... but they weren't so the calls mattered... Frustrating to watch but some day we'll be on the benefitting side of poop calls... |

Well to get rid of Mrazek .. 2 more yrs @ 3.8 man what a wreck that is.. you have to add. And really what can they add besides youngsters or picks .. which Dubas doesn't want to do.. his words...
Gotta sign Soup... That's minimum 4 mil per.
Boosh played 3 shifts in the 3rd... of a game 7 - under 12 minutes .. So after a bigger sample size... that turned out to be a big turd of a trade. He's UFA
Gio... signing 39 yr olds... not smart. Muzz.. Anyone think he's gonna be healthy for a full yr.. this teams balance is going to be worse... unless a major piece is moved.

Soup outplayed Vasy... Nah... And who pray tell on the backend was better than, forget Hedman.. either McD or Cernak... 34 & 16 were better in stretches. But also ghosted for times.. 91 was worthless. And Willy was Willy ...
But yeah the depth was a difference... The ref thing.. .that's crap.. Going down that road is weak sauce.

Knies and Robertson really need to become contributing players next yr.
Lily and Sandin I think are going to be an improvement and help the D a lot.
Offensively Leafers will be good.. Shore up that D and get a better bottom 6 mix..
Cliffy / Wayne train and Spezz should be done as Leafs.
