If Beau was on another team you guys would be dying to trade for him... He's 24 years old and is a 20G scorer who has had huge goals for this team in important games.... but yeah.. Let's "Jettison him".. lol.
Islanders have $14 mill in cap room this summer. Dobson is only guy they really have to sign.. IF they need more than the $9 mill left to sign or trade for someone they can move Bailey or Varly. Beau isn't going anywhere..Unless it's for a big asset in a trade. - niteislander
The guy scored over 20 goals once and that was 21 under weights run and gun system. He hasn’t ever broke 40 points. None of us would/should be dying to trade for that. |

Well that's what we're talking about. Would you move Beau in a deal for Fiala? |

I love the thought that Beau, he who has never had more then 40 points in a season in his career is going to be the key piece in a trade for a legit top 6 scorer. Not happening unless it’s some other struggling fwd. Beau isn’t struggling this is who he is at this point. Sure he may get better but there’s no indication of that. |

In fairness, he had 18g in 68gp in the first Covid season, which would've put him on pace for about 21/22 goals over 82 games. Last season He had 15g in 47gp which is a 26 goal pace over a full season.
I'd still move him for a better player, but he's played in a bunch of shortened seasons the last two years and would've put up better point totals over a full year |

See above for what kind of goal-scoring pace he was actually on over the last two years. He would have been closer to 50pts the last two seasons as well. He's a good piece, but I'd definitely move him in the right deal.
What deal that is? I have no idea. |

Possibly. The guy goes on 10-15 game pointless streaks every season.
Edit; like I always say I don’t hate the guy but if there were ever a player overrated by the fanbase it would be him. If there’s a place in the lineup to improve, that would be a great place to start. |

Bailey can go and even Beau in the right deal. Bailey is a must trade though. - ses111
Bailey is the obvious choice if they're looking to upgrade the skill level. He has zero trade protection. Lou can dump him to Arizona (who needs a ton of bodies) if he wants to. |

I like Beau and wouldn't want to see him go but if you can trade him for Kevin Fiala or other more offensive player I would do it. Again love Beaus forecheck and energy but you have to give up something to get something.
On trading Varly, I don't think Lou will trade Varly. He's always built from strength in the net out. If he can sign a dependable back up at a considerable discount to Varly then maybe he lets Varly go. I'm not even going to get into Bailey |

He's been at-or-around a PPG player for the last three seasons, I think I'd like him very much. He's going to get paid though. I'd guess around $8M or so, give or take $500k.
As things stand right now (and with the $1M upper limit increase) they're looking at about $12M in free money.
Dobson needs a contract which I'm guessing will be around $4Mx3. So that's about $8M leftover.
Move out Bailey and that $8M becomes $13M, but acquire/sign Fiala for about $8M and you're going to have about $5M leftover which probably isn't going to be enough to afford the kind of offensive d-man they desperately need.
I don't think they have the draft/prospect capital to be able to afford two trades, which means they'll have to sign a UFA but then money starts to become an issue. The market for defensemen is thin, so I don't think UFA is really an option to fill that need, unless it's for the bottom pair |

I like him too. Not very impressive against the Blues in round 1 however. I don't think The Wild are going to sign him. They are in Cap hell right now. If he's available I would think Lou and Barzal are going to see if there's a way to add him. He's an RFA so if we acquire his rights, maybe Lou can work his magic and sign him for a couple years at
~ 6 million? The Wild I don't think can sign him and last year he actually signed for 1 year at 1 million under(5 Mil) his previous contract. I wonder what his relationship is with Parise? Just don't see him wearing a Wild Jersey next year. Or I'm just hoping its an Isles sweater
On an UFA Dman, What about Josh Manson? |

I would love Manson. I know he’s not much of an offensive player but he is a solid nasty Dman. I also think they might move Mayfield because they can’t pay him next year |

I can see lameriello doing a low cost move to have some snarl on our blue line along with the obvious need as a puck mover. Going to be tough with salary he’s going to have to move some players. Or he could just resign Chara |

Plays with an edge for sure and I would like him as well. He would be a good fit. I think Mayfield is a bargain right now so I think Lou will keep him.

Manson plays the right side, which we're pretty set at. Unless for some reason they move Mayfield but I don't see a ton of merit in doing that, since his cap hit is so low, unless they're getting a massive haul for him that they can parlay into another asset
Also, $6M seems low for Fiala after three great seasons. If that's what he signs for then awesome, I just see it being more than that. Maybe I'm overvaluing him. |

He is a bargain and I'm fine if they keep him but they'll lose him for nothing in the offseason unless they are out of it again and then they could move him at the deadline but I'm not expecting another down season next year |

Just seems silly to move him and sign someone like Manson at a much bigger cap hit. They may lose him for nothing, but another year of him at a beyond-affordable number probably has as much value as the 2nd-ish rounder they might get for him. If some desperate GM wants to give up a 1st and a decent prospect then great...but that doesn't seem likely at all |

Me either but we need to add on D and not lose what we have in place.
Mayfields cap friendly deal makes him tough to move. Lou and Barzal have their work cut out for them. The Cap is doing its job and it sucks! |
