Word is Trotz wife is sick. So Cudos to Lou for taking care of Barry.

“ Isles offered Trotz extension but he wouldn't commit past contract due to personal life mother passing his wife is sick etc he don't know what his future coaching is or if going back home etc is what I got from baffi and he highly recommended lane too take over as Detroit had interest I believe to interview and hire him potentially so naturally fan base freaked out and wanted Lou's head but now that all the facts etc come out from the horses mouth himself we can relax knowing it was all put into motion before seasons end and Barry was not fired per se was mutual understanding and Barry will always be beloved amongst fans like Al was for what he did”

Now this would make sense too me. I thoughts and prayers to Trotz and his family.

Yeah best wishes to him and his family but still seems strange that Lameriello would say this;

Lou Lamoriello: "It is my role to make the best decisions for the organization going forward and I believe that this group of players needs a new voice." #Isles

I don’t really understand the point in keeping all of what this new speculation is saying a secret. Why not just say he needs to be close to his family rather then telling the world you’re firing him because the team needs a new voice? That’s classier? Meh doesn’t make a bit of sense. If that is actually the case has to be one of the worst PR moves I’ve seen since Wang fired smith and hired snow

Yeah I mean who knows? We may never know. Doesn’t really matter what’s done is done but that theory doesn’t correspond to what Lou is saying and I really have no idea why he would say the decision was what was best for the club if it were truly a family matter. Doesn’t seem to sympathetic for a situation that pretty much demands sympathy. He said a couple of things along the lines that it was just time to move on. The team wasn’t responding under trotz so we needed a new coach.

Puts the BS that the players trashed Barry during exit interviews to rest. Comical really.

Maybe Lou just respecting Barry’s personal situation and it not being his place to make it public? I mean this just would make 100% sense to me.

You really think him telling the world the team tuned out the coach so we had to get rid of him is an appropriate and classy way of handling that situation if that were the case?

If this is true lameriello should have a spoke person and no longer speak in public

Also, I’ll add I’m not saying it’s not true but I am saying it doesn’t correspond with anything lou has said. Like literally nothing. He could’ve said trotz and I agreed it was time to move on. Crap anything besides what he said that would’ve maintained Trotz’s privacy rather then throwing the guy under the bus. Really mean thing to do if this is true if you ask me

He said today he should have worded it differently but I can't speak for the man just trying to interpret the situation

What exactly did he say? Was it after or before he said this;

Joe Pantorno
@JoePantorno
Lamoriello: "These types of decisions are made for going forward, not for the backward. With this group we have, and they're on notice right now, that new voice is necessary to have success... My opinion is what makes these decisions." #Isles

He said today that he shouldn't have said a new voice during the presser

“When you say ‘a new voice,’ there’s a tremendous difference between an assistant coach and a head coach,” he explained Monday afternoon. “It’s bigger than I think anyone can sometimes understand. That new voice is here with Lane. Certainly, Lane has different thoughts on different things. Everybody does.

“Maybe it wasn’t the right phrase that I should have used, but it is a new voice in the position that Lane is now in. I would say a big new voice in that, because we’re talking about two totally different personalities with reference to Barry and Lane.”

In any event I think lambert is a solid move in that he's similar to trotz but will make some changes that may be needed in how they play

That’s with no regret in reference to how it makes trotz look. It’s just clarifying that Lambert is actually a new voice.

Again, I’m not saying it’s not true before the resident lunatic loses his mind because how dare someone disagree with him while he’s felating lameriello. I am saying it makes no sense and what Lameriello said today doesn’t detract from that. He was just clarifying lambert is a new voice even though he worked with trotz for so many years…

There was a way to handle things differently and still keep Barry's privacy. Could the Isles not have paid Barry's last year without firing him? Some fans were ripped and players as well based on Lou's own words thinking they wanted Barry out.
- ses111

Again, I’m not saying he doesn’t have a sick wife or have some family stuff going on. It was pretty well documented that there was stuff going on after his moms death. It’s just a completely bizarre way of maintaining trotz’s privacy to any sane person.

I agree. Lou needed to handle this better and no I do not want him fired.
- ses111

Well I’m not sure he had to handle it better because we don’t know if it’s true like everything else we heard. It may be. May not be. Like I said doesn’t really matter at this point. Also, I know you want lou fired.
